JoesGuy: Is it just me, or is there an odd glitch with this patch where the music becomes inaudible when dialogue plays. It's just dialogue, regular sound effects don't cause this to happen. It's also only present with the new patch.
Thinking about it, I wonder if this really is a glitch. At least under default settings, there were quite a few times where the soundtrack drowns out the dialog.

It's a weird workaround, but maybe they wanted to let the plug 'n' play gamers hear the dialog. Considering the timing and the fact that the Steam update included a Linux port, it's fairly possible this was aimed at those going out and getting Steam Machines.

I wonder if there's any way to change this behavior, if it is on purpose.

Urnoev: I won't use Steam and its DRM under any circumstances, so I'll continue to wait for the patch to arrive here.
No one is forcing you to use Steam. You can buy the game, downoad it, compare the folder with clean gog install and drop all changed/new files along with the wrapper crack to zip archive. Voilà, you have a DRM-free Linux patch for GOG's KOTOR 2. Store it on some long-term cloud service and use when you want. Not too hard, eh? :)

Your ideas of what constitutes theft are pretty wildly variable.
This needs to be stickied!!!! It's a must have, and without it there's no reason to playt KOTOR II on GOG instead of Steam
It's a crack guys. It's not legal.
ALI213 is a Chinese crack group.
Attempting to use this patch due to the fact that i run an intel graphics card(still unclear if this actually fixes that problem) but i dont see any ATi dlls in the root folder of the game. newb question but, what would an ATi dll look like?

wanbler: I'm not gonna update this release with the Linux binaries because this would be a plain ass piracy.
Windows version on Steam is just an update over existing codebase, but Linux version is a straight decent port.
You've bought only the original Windows version on GOG, you knew it. Deal with it.

It's only 9,99€ now and you can wait for the summer sale with even more affordable price tag.

Urnoev: Fair enough. I don't think the difference between the patch and the binaries is that big, ethically, but it is of course your call. :)

Actually difference is huge.
Aspyr Steam update, broke all existing mods, and made them incompatible with the Steam version.
The Restored content mod, on Steam Workshop, was adapted to work, but is different to the one for other versions of the game.

That was the situation in August 2015 at least, when I abandoned the Steam version.
All existing modded games on Steam, were broken, when Valve replaced the original, without warning, with this Aspyr abomination, that did little modders hadn't already done. All done to promote the launch of SteamOS.
Not to benefit any existing ownwers.

So whether this crack also breaks old mod, or not, I'd be very careful, and make a backup, if you try it.

I dunno. I searched far and wide for a controller mod and never found one.

Also, Linux.

So yeah, as an existing owner, I can say the Aspyr update did a couple things that benefit me, and I have been able to find any mod I wanted in the Workshop. Not just TSLRCM, but also the added planet and the HD mods.
I was playing it when they broke my modded game, and I had to mod it, to even play, Steam sold it broken for W7+, and this was before refunds existed
The unannounced update, trashed my game, and on that day you could only have the TSLRCM+planet mod(s), no other mods were compatible.

Then whem mods were made compatible, it was found you could only have one, as they'd only bothered about getting TSLRCM+Planet working, and all to sell Big Picture mode/SteamOS, not benefit existing owners..
I expect an update fixed it, but by then, I had the GOG versions, and I'm sure most original mods never got added to the Workshop.

I'd rather have 10 years of mods to use, than a controller, I never use one now, and I used to be a console gamer.
Took me a while to get used to K&M, but when I did, I never went back.

I don't know why you'd want to use a controller, with an RPG, due to limited options, but your issue was loooking for a game specific mod, when multi-game tools are already available, like these.
This one lets you try it first.
JoyToKey is a shareware and license key (price = $7.00 USD) needs to be purchased for continued use.
JoyToKey - Download the Latest Official Version

Xpadder is only 9.99 USD
Xpadder is an old one, I tried years ago, it still around.

Controller Companion $3.00 USD or more (+ VAT), also on Steam
Controller Companion is another.

I'm sure a free one exits, if you look in the right place, but if you have to use a controller, these prices are low enough.

I have every single one of those controller mapping softwares, and none of them can do for the KotOR games what the update did for my being able to use a controller.

"I don't know why you'd want to use a controller, with an RPG, due to limited options,"

Sorry, I didn't realize I was having bad wrong fun. I'll try to play more the way you do from now on.

I use a controller because I like to relax and play my games in whatever position, sitting, laying down, across the room, or right next to my computer. But again, I'll be sure to start using just the mouse and keyboard from now on, hunched over my desk, so that I can stop playing my game wrong. Once more, I apologize for having bad wrong fun.

Again, Linux.

As for mods, every single mod I ever used on KotOR II is in the workshop, and was within just a few months of the update. Every fix, every HD mod, etc. I don't use any mods that change content (other than TSLRCM), so I cannot vouch for those.

Oh, one more thing on mods and whether the game works: The update fixed a lot of the issues for why the game was "broken" on windows 7. If you don't have an NVIDIA card, you still have to turn off a graphic setting or two, but it actually works now. How is THAT not for existing owners?

I get that the update didn't work out for you, but that doesn't mean the update did not benefit people that already owned the game. One of my co-workers even re-installed and replayed the game because of the update. Not everyone is like you. Stop acting like we are, or that we're wrong because we aren't.

So I guess GOG officially sticky-ing this topic means we aren't getting the update officially for a really long time, if at all.
Yeah, it's awful.
I've given up hope long ago, so thankfully this doesn't shock me that much, but it's still a bad sign.
And I am a Linux user as well, so this doesn't even help much in that regard, I still have to use Wine.
By the way, is that package still up-to-date? It is over one year old now, have there been any changes to the new patch on Steam?

No this 10/15 patch still looks to be the last update on Steam.
