You have to replace GOG-version's swkotor2.exe with pirated steam's one (original exe from steam version won't do!)
At least it worked for me!
Here are the differences between steam and gog .exe made by - e718eternal

Steam:
Data: 14,452,112 bytes
Flags: Uniprocessor only, Line numbers stripped, Local symbols stripped, Relocation info stripped, Handles 32 bit words, Executable
Fixed Version Info/File Version: 2.2.0.0
Fixed Version Info/Product Version: 2.2.0.0
Variable Version Info/File Version: 2.2.0.0
Variable Version Info/Product Version: 2.2.0.0

GOG:
Data: 4,578,816 bytes
Flags: Line numbers stripped, Local symbols stripped, Relocation info stripped, Handles 32 bit words, Executable
Fixed Version Info/File Version: 2.1.0.0
Fixed Version Info/Product Version: 2.1.0.0
Variable Version Info/File Version: 2.1.0.0
Variable Version Info/Product Version: 2.1.0.0

UPD. SInce GOG probably will never update .exe file, I'm gonna update link every week. Intel-people shouldn't suffer because of inferiority of GOG-version.

should remove that link mate - not a good idea!

might be better summarising that the current gog version is not the same as the steam one as listed in this post:

Thanks, updated my original post.
Why not a good idea? Not every user owns steam version to get .exe file, and it's better than download whole pirated steam-version.

I'm glad it helped =)

well gog doesnt supply the steam version for one, secondly you're supporting piracy / filesharing (the former being something gog is basically going against by providing drm free games), thirdly, its quite likely this thread could get marked as spam a a result and vanish - at which point nobody knows what the solution may be and i also think it mught be against the ToS of using the forum here.

Well, Updated my original post.
Shame, though, this could have helped god knows how many users before fix comes out.

yeah, but would you rather have people know the differences in the release, or see the thread vanish due to a (illegal) link? - i'd rather have the info so people can know to hold back from purchasing until gog sorts it out / know they may have issues by seeing the thread than an externally hosted exe file (which some may question if its in any way legit or not as well). I know you only meant well though bud - but I think having the thread here is enough and have no doubts gog will do what they can to update as needed. :)
Thanks for easy fix ;)
GOG support just supplied me with another exe to test. Works fine so hopefully they'll roll it out soon. :)
Good to know! Hopefully official fix will be out soon.
Thank you

That Steam .exe worked for me. I just got this game yesterday and had no luck kept crashing after character creation. I been searching the net for hours I moved to gog one out and put the steam one in and worked like a champ.

Now to download TSLRCM 1.8.1 Mod

I know this game has latest update 1.0b but does any one know if it has the updated sound and cut scenes as well

kingarthur1: Now to download TSLRCM 1.8.1 Mod
The latest version is 1.8.3
But if you can wait until next week, version 1.8.4 will be available, read more here:
http://www.gog.com/forum/star_wars_knights_of_the_old_republic_series/tsl_tslrcm_and_you/page1
I allready installed 1.8.3 with no problems and everything is working great. I wonder if this save game file will be compatible with the new TCLRCM patch
