Hello everybody,
I'm playing KotOR 2 at the moment and am really enjoying the game so far. But when I started the game today, Avast came up with a virus-detection for the file "mssvoice.aci" ("Win32:Malware-gen", the file itself is located in the folder "miles") and deleted the file. I've started the game many times before but nothing like that happened. I've uploaded the said file to virustotal.com and tested it there and everything was clean - even the Avast-scan there... My installed Avast-version is up to date. I've checked the file with SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Spybot without detection, but Avast still shows a detection...
Thank you for your help

edit: I'm sorry, the file is named: mssvoice.asi

It's a false positive. Mssvoice.asi is a Miles sound library. Note that Avast has ALWAYS been bad in respect of throwing out false positives. If you want to really assure yourself, upload the file to Virus Total. I just scanned it, and it comes up completely clean (0 out of 56 solutions). See here.

Thanks for your reply. As I said: I've tested the file on virustotal too. Strange thing is: On virustotal, even Avast marks the file as clean - my installation of Avast seems to think different however...

Like I said, Avast has a history of throwing false positives. Don't worry about it, or if you are worried, change your antivirus to something more reliable.

Hey,
I know Avast to be notorious about false positives. But now I feel reassured, thank you.
