I've posted on here before, and got some replies, but nothing helped

KOTOR 2 crashes on my computer ever single time I try and play. I load up the game, create a character, press play, and then I hear about 3 words I can't understand and then it crashes.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, checking to make sure it's properly installed, toggling every option, turning on and off movies, even forcing windowed mode. Nothing seems to help.

Help me GOG.

This is your second post on this issue, and you've had some good advice, yet not once have you stated your complete system specs.
I'm going to put my money on... disable frame buffer effects.

It's...It's off by default.

Try turning it on.

-edit- Now that I think about it, it was v-synch that most people had to turn off but I had to turn on, to fix my problems. Not FBEs. That was a long time ago.

Can't toggle FBEs at all, v-sync doesn't help.
Why can't you toggle frame buffer effects? Something is wrong here.

I have no idea. That and another option is grayed out.
I think it is long past time you posted your system specs.

In any case, you can edit the SWKOTOR.ini file.

That indicates that you are trying to run the game on hardware that cannot possibly do what the game requires. alcaray is right, you need to provide some system specs if we are to offer you any meaningful solutions, especially the make/model of your graphics card.

(Disclaimer - I do not have a gaming computer by any definition, and I know pretty much nothing about computers internally. I've been able to play every game in my GOG library but this - including KOTOR)

Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron 560

Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E6700 @3.20Hz 3.20 GHz

6/00 GB of RAM

64-Bit Operating system
Graphics card please?
I have the exact same problem. I'm using Windows 8 and have an Intel HD graphics card. I've turned off full-screen, V-sync and buffer effect, and added AllowWindowedMode, but it still crashes after the intro scene. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I understand, from various threads in this forum, that Intel graphics adapters have a hard time with this game. You should read through these threads to see what people have tried.

If that is the basic Dell Inspiron 560, it will likely never run KotOR 2, the Intel GMA 4500 it has for a graphics solution simply lacks the hardware capability the game needs. It is possible (though unlikely) that a driver update will provide the necessary functionality via software, so you might want to check Dell and Intel's sites for newer drivers to install.

alcaray is correct, this game hates Intel graphics hardware. However, there definitely are some Intel chipsets that will work with the game, though we would need specific make/model numbers for your chipset to make that determination ("Intel HD Graphics" is a blanket term that covers at least a half dozen different Intel chipsets).
