For those of you with this particular problem, who are running Win10x64 & and an AMD GPU (I am running an R9380 4GB) here's a quick and easy fix if you are having trouble running the game--it just won't open a screen & run.

Fix: The game comes with two very old ATI GPU drivers in the root directory, atigktxx.dll & atioglxx.dll that will not work with newer AMD GPUs and/or newer Windows OSes. Simply rename both files (I added "old" to both) or just delete both files. Games will now run from the GOG startup icons.

Edit: same thing applies to KOTOR II

Hey, where exactly do I find those files? I've looked in the game's folder, searched for both, but cannot find either of them.

Oh, and I don't have an AMD GPU, here are my specs http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231309 (I have Windows 10 though)
KOTOR 1 on Win7 64, AMD R380 is working now.

Thank You! :D :D

If you can't find them I wouldn't worry as this tip only applies to AMD GPU owners, sorry...

Kudos to you! I can now launch the games :) I'm using a HD 7850 1GB on Windows 10 64-bit. Before I did this fix it would crash at start-up. Sadly though, I ran into another issue. When I load a save or start a new game, the game crashes.

Intel HD Graphics. The game is not likely to ever work on that. It will probably crash right after character creation to begin with and if you do manage get past that, it will frequently crash on loading/map transitions and any time a cutscene is played. This game has never liked Intel graphics, combine that with running on an unsupported OS and you are probably SOL.

Yes, turn off frame buffer effects in options.

Absolutely right, GoG should be doing just that...;)
So...I don't have these files to delete and hitting this issue.

I am also hitting this issue with KOTOR II. I just finished KOTOR 1 for the very first time yesterday and am keen to continue the story! It looks like they took the offending .dll files out of the installer, but I am working with Intel graphics. Anyone playing this successfully on an Intel integrated Windows 10 PC? If so, how did you manage it?
