I've got an 540M Nvidia card and I'm using the 344.11 drivers on Win7 64-bit.

I've set the Vsync on in-game and I've also forced it in the driver (also tried all possible combination between the two), but I'm still getting screen tearing every now and then.

What's even more odd is that if I toggle Vsync (on/off, does not matter really) in the game settings and click on ok, there's no screen reset flash, as there would be for example when you'd switch from one resolution to another. This makes me think the in-game vsync value is somehow disregarded, but I may be wrong.

Has anyone else faced this? Are there any workarounds anyone is aware of?

Ok, I've updated to 344.48 (using the same settings) and now the screen tearing limits itself to the top 5% portion of the screen... this happens regardless of the resolution I use.

I'm not even so sure it's Vsync related right now, might be a graphical glitch of sorts. Is anyone else seeing this?

For me it seems the vsync works just fine. No tearing at all while ingame. However, the vsync doesn't work for some reason in fmv cutscenes. The tearing isn't too bad though.

I also get tearing during cutscenes, but I don't mind it that much. It's not even *that* observable in-game, most areas are fine with only minimal or no tearing artifacts.

The worst it ever got was in Upper City Taris. Just looking at the distant skyscrapers and moving the view around would cause visible tears in the upper portion of the screen.

Ah, well, it's just a minor glitch after all. Once the story takes you in, it turns into background noise really.

Hi,

An idiots question? Have you forced V-Sync in your Nvidia driver menu (Vertical sync: on)? Then it should work no matter how you configure your game.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, but I did force VSync and Triple Buffering.

It seems though that ever since Windows Vista (or DirectX 10), the VSync setting in the Nvidia control panel only affects OpenGL applications, so its effects are rather limited.

I've played a bit more of the game since my first post, and I no longer think this is a VSync issue per se, but rather a tearing/refresh issue that is only visible at the very top portion of the screen (if it were a common VSync-is-not-enabled issue I should be able to see tearing in other places as well).

In most game areas it's rather hard to observe though, so I can live with it.

Was just curios to see if anyone else was seeing anything similar, or if it's just a disturbance in the for... erm, graphic buffers.
