I had some extra money so I decided I'd go ahead and buy KotOR on GOG, as I've never had any luck getting the Steam version to work, and I figured the GOG version might. Turns out it didn't, although my issues are a little different. Where the Steam version showed a black screen then crashed, this version for me, as soon as I launch it, it changes the layout to Windows basic, sits there for 1-2 seconds, then changes back to Aero and does nothing. No processes related to KotOR or anything. I've tried all the classic things, like disabling movies and enabling Hardware Mouse, compatibility modes, and so on. Just wondering if anyone else has any ideas. Running Win7 64-bit.

First, make sure you don't have it installed to Program Files. If you do, uninstall it and re-install to somewhere like C:\Games\

If that's not the issue, try temporarily disabling your antivirus or security software. These often interfere with proper execution of some software and games.

I can assure you that the game runs perfectly fine in Win7 64 bit.

It was in C:\GOG Games, and I reinstalled it to where I usually install things which is Program Files (x86), which didn't work. I also tried disabling my antivirus, still didn't work. Also made sure to check file integrity when I reinstalled it.

EDIT: I removed the atigktxx.dll and atioglxx.dll files from the game directory, and now it will open the process but it will immediately not respond and windows will notify me that the program is not responding and that it is checking for a solution.
