But this problem doesn't occur on the Steam version.

Do you have modded the multiplayer? My JK2 (Steam Version) is also unplayable in offline mode, because I entered some weird servers. I am now not even able to load any mp level. I think If I use the console to start a map, then the game crashes.

Also I see sometimes JKA Maps with their thumbnails in the JK2 MP, really weird:

What I want to say is, that maybe a server changed your game files and you need now to reinstall the game?
