I want to take screenshots of the game to share on social media. I want to use my own to showcase the pods available in the game. The settings menu says F12 is the screenshot key and pressing it does cause a little pinging sound to go off. However i cant find the screenshots folder. Does anyone know the default filepath for it?

It also occurs to me that due to the age of the game itself, the screenshot button might not actually work anymore.

An answer to either issue would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just tested this by starting a quick race and pressing F12. I found the files but it seems that it doesn't always work correctly.

The files were located in the game installation folder (though they may go elsewhere if you've installed to a Windows protected folder instead), so for me they were in here:

E:\Games\STAR WARS Racer\

The filenames were snap_XXX.bmp where XXX is a sequence number. The first two of mine (000 and 001) worked fine, showing Anakin's pod racer, but the others (002 to 005) all came out with a solid pale blue (the sky colour from the track maybe?).
Thanks for the help. I found the screenshots i had taken but all three of them were a solid color (probably the skybox color like you say). I'll see what i can do but thanks again for helping me find the screens.

The solid colours might be due to the ddraw wrapper GOG provide for the game. Maybe try using the game with the dgVoodoo2 DirectX wrapper instead and see if it works better? I must remember to try to apply dgVoodoo2 to my installation at some point as I've been meaning to do so (it fixes the skybox issue that some maps have).
You can take screenshots for Episode I Racer using ShareX. It worked for me this way.

You can also try the Windows 10 Game Bar if you have Windows 10 installed.
