My dad and I are really trying to challenge each other, but none of our pods are fully upgraded in mutiplayer as they are in tournament or freeplay. Any suggestions?

Yes, thanks to JayFoxRox there is now a mod that allows enables exactly this. It also removes annoying player on player collisions and the ugly low res fonts have also been improved to HD quality (courtesy of Jburn).
