General Troubleshooting
-----------------------

1. black screen / crash on launch:

- Before starting the game, change video resolution to your desktop one (or the closest match). if that fails, try falling back to 1024x768. Video settings can be found under GOG Galaxy HERE
-- or in Start Menu HERE.

- Close any unnecessary applications running in the background, especially ones overlay-based like EVGA Precision, MSI Afterburner, GeForce Experience, FRAPS etc.

- If running multiple screen setup, try switching to a single monitor.

If none of the above helps, please send your DxDiag to our Support team HERE. The more information we have, the easier it will be to pinpoint the problem.

2. Controllers
- connect (turn on if wireless) your controller before starting the game
- start the game, go to Settings->Joystick Settings
- set Joystick to Enable
- press Default to fill controls with standard mapping or configure them manually

-------------
May the Force serve you well.

deactivating the second screen, turning of all uneccessary background program and
switching back to 1024x728 did it for me
but only once, it apparently didn' t like to see me starting ds4windows

edit : that game don't like One drive, close it before playing.
edit : second screen make it crash each time.

and sometimes it just don't want to start and start on next try without any changes to the environnement and work fine.

edit : I can forgot the idea of using any controller since my mouse is already recognise has a joystick (roccat tyon)

My Problem ist that my game doesn't start if my Xbox One Wireless Controller is activated. As long as it's deactivated the game starts most of the time. But with controller on -> 100% failure (load screen shows up and the game closes without warning at maybe 20% of the loading screen)

Try starting the game without it, enable joystick in settings & default mapping, save, quit and then try again with controller switched on.
The only way so far I've gotten it to at least start without immidiately giving an rdroid_gnome error is by deleting the ddraw.dll file in the game's folder.

However, the colors and graphics are so messed up then that the game is hardly playable.

Reducing colors, lowering resolution, various compatibility modes, none of it worked.
My game ran fine until I changed the resolution in the video settings. Now it just crashes on startup with an "unable to open display for 3d" error.

edit: I just tried reinstalling the game and I'm getting the same error. :(

edit2: Rebooting fixed it. Think it was a graphics driver issue or something.

Getting the R_Droid error. Support recommends that i set the game to native res. Game does not support 2560 x 1440...

GG
This is really disappointing. The game loaded once, changed the resolution, and now I can't play it.

Same here. The game and video config app won't even launch, though rather than delete ddraw.dll, I just renamed it to ddraw.dll.bak. Changing the extension has the same effect as deleting the file. When I do this, I'm able to change the resolution in the config app and get into the game, but the game is unplayable. When restoring the file's extension to normal, the game won't start.

I've also tried turning off g-sync and setting v-sync, but I wonder if my display's refresh rate (fixed at 75 Hz) might have something to do with it?

Same. I tried. But when I start the game without my pad, the game say he don't detect any gamepad and I can't activate.
same here with the rdroid_gnome error.

rebooting and reinstalling didn't help so far.
rebooting my machine and setting the resoultion to 1024x768 fixed the rdroid crash for me, thanks
