nsg15: Hey guys

It seems that GOG versions only add a working music patch they did not change hardware acceleration compatibility. Users on AMD cards are still reporting issues. Below are the patches I have created this morning which include the graphics fixes for both MotS and JK. Basically its a DDraw wrapper that emulates a older version of Direct3D providing a smooth experience for all users with all graphics cards. This release has been tested on Xp/7/8/10 Preview with AMD & Nvidia cards and is working. Enjoy Guys

That wrapper was actually created by Dege.

These patches work. Download them and test it out yourself first before replying.
Wow, thanks, finally full HD (1920x1080 @ 16-bit) is working*, and also the Jedi Knight Enhanched MOD is finally workin'. Thanks!

* it's a bit lagging on Intel HD4000

This patch allows me to use hardware acceleration with my Win8.1/Radeon system.

Thanks, and I hope this thread gets stickied.
This makes it 30fps. Is that really the only way to fix the weird weapon bob?

What graphic card you have?

A 270X. FRAPS says it's running 60, but it's obviously animating/moving at 30fps. The textures also have that gross old mipmapping pop-in from yesteryear. Oy, I wish normal D3D could work instead of this glide wrapper.

Agreed. It just makes the whole thing look strange. Just played through an entire level with these replacement files, and I just don't like it very much. That wrapper also seems to have negatively affected software mode as well, as the latter seems to look quite a bit better in the version GOG provides. Plus no stretchy and flickering cutscenes.

I appreciate the effort they've done, but it just doesn't work out well for me.

Did you play in 3d mode?

Also for anyone who wants to test framerate, you can just type t (talk button) and then TAB (Will change chat to console), then type framerate.

Will this patch allow a windowed mode in Dark Forces II? How can one get that to work?

The complete wrapper includes a controlpanel where you can set the game to window mode.

Or you can use alt+enter unless it has been disabled by that conf file included with the patch.

I have an AMD graphics card and in 3D mode I was getting the black screen. Applied the patch and now 3D mode is working fine. Only thing I noticed was a bit of addition lag loading the menu screens, but game play is smooth and looks good. Thanks for your effort.

Interesting! So the window in the right of the screenshot, is that the original launcher or is that the patch launcher?
