Trank209: I dont think we can get it to work with XP. But JK should be running fine in XP Do you use AMD or Nvidia?

Novotnus: XP + Nvidia (GT 220) makes the game look like this :) DDraw.dll from Ultimate causes the game to crash.
Looks like no 3D acceleration for me :)
Yeah that sucks man. We tested it on a Windows 10 with a Nvidia 9800 GT and it wouldn't work. Which is strange cause we have had a clean experience with AMD cards and JK is very picky with AMD. But it seems like its not liking Nvidia as much.
dgvoodoo requires DirectX 10.1 that,s why it doesnt work on XP or 9800 gt. AMD started supporting 10.1 much earlier than Nvidia.

Ah, thank you so much man. You just helped us a lot. No wonder that 9800 gt was not working.

Thanks. So it's the same as with all the DX11 renderers I was trying to use. Well, back to the start or WineD3D.
works on my system @ 2560x1440 with no bugs and in fullscreen

Win 8.1 64bit, GTX 970.

Exactly the way it looks for me. The patch crashes XP works not on this OS. Try WineD3D - it helped in my case.

Thanks! Will give it a try and report back.
EDIT. Now I get black screen after launching the game :) I'll test it a bit more later :)
EDIT2. My God, it works! Fresh install, files, Voodoo-times beauty on my screen!

Run the game first without the files in it and switch to HW accelerated mode (leading to the scrambled picture). Exit the game, insert the files and start the game again. As well as WineD3D runs on HW acceleration it does seem to stuck in black screen while you are still in software mode (at least for me it was).

Edit: Good to see you got it to work. Have fun :)

You, sir, are a genius! Your tips helped me to run the game with hardware acceleration and fix the cutscenes :)
Thank you very, very much!
Has anyone been able to use the game's glide renderer? Did it never have one?

Nope, the game never had a glide renderer, just Direct3d and software.

timwario: Wait, the game is not supposed to look like it's 30 fps? It says the game is running at 60 fps when I type in the framerate command but everything other than the weapon model looks like it's at 30. I thought that's just how this engine renders things, and that it can't be fixed.
Yup, it's built into the engine, unfortunately.

My theory is that the framerate cap was intended for the HUD weapon layer, but the devs put it on the wrong layer (game world) instead. Computers back then probably weren't fast enough to play above 30ps to catch this. It is clear to tell the weapon animations were intended for 30fps, when capping the game to that, the lightsaber's altfire swings match the third person animations. Unfortunately, without the game's source code, it is almost impossible to fix this.

Also, the framerate cap is a bit strange: at 60 fps or higher, the game world is capped to half of your current framerate. This also means the HUD weapon animations playback way too fast. This is why software mode appears to actually be 60fps, because it is totally uncapped (and the weapon animations playback much much higher, at your actual framerate - probably closer to the 200s). So if your software framerate is, say, 300, the game world is capped to 150, which still appears smooth on a 60Hz monitor.

If you disable vsync for hardware mode or in dgVoodoo's settings you should get the same smooth result, but the weapon animations will be too fast.

I am glad that my information could help you but I have to say that I myself got the tip (and the link) with WineD3D from teleguy so the honor belongs to him and the inventors of WineD3D. However I did find out about the cutscene skipping thing for myself bcause I had this problem and it was a thing I thought I should try (lowering soound acceleration). Anyway - just glad for you. Have much fun!
patch still has small window menu and cutscenes on steam, somene ffs show me how to use this dege thing please.
