I keep running into this problem with Dark Forces II. Every time I run the game it only shows a black screen and it crashes. I can't even use Ctrl+Alt+Del when this happens. I looked in the Event Viewer and it shows this Application Error for JK.EXE:

Faulting application name: JK.EXE, version: 2008.4.30.0, time stamp: 0x356f4b61
Faulting module name: D3DImm.DLL, version: 4.7.1.3000, time stamp: 0x54c52604
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00013207
Faulting process id: 0xc4c
Faulting application start time: 0x01d03a8a11da5e13
Faulting application path: Dark Forces 2\JK.EXE
Faulting module path: Dark Forces 2\D3DImm.DLL

---

Does that mean there is an issue with the "D3DImm.DLL" file? I'm using an nVidia card with updated drivers on Windows 7 64-bit. Is there a way to fix this problem?

The D3DImm.dll file is part of the JKUltimate patches. I would suggest reinstalling the game.

One thing, did you replace the JK.exe file with the one from the JKUltimate patch?
Does that also happen without the patch?

What is the exact GPU model? It has to support DirectX 10.1 or higher.
I think I figured out how to get Jedi Knight to work. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game again. Then I created a shortcut to the JK.EXE file and added " -windowgui -displayconfig" to the end of the path. Now the game finally works!
