I'd like to say thanks for this script for Dark Forces, it made the game much more enjoyable to play. I had an issue with the game moving Kyle forward and back, so I've included a configuration file that removes that. I also included a modified mapper file that swaps the keys used for crouching and running.

You're welcome. It was my pleasure. Glad to do it.

Regarding your edits, right on. I think that works even better than my original config. My intention was originally to rig up the mouse to go up and down a little faster, but in retrospect I think there's value added in standing still while looking and we can sacrifice a little speed. I've made a similar change and have modified the original post with a link to an updated download. Thanks for the feedback.

In response to the several other replies, sorry for the delay. I didn't come back to this for a while. Life has been pretty busy.

This seems like a good thing to have, especially with the automatic GlovePIE script. I've played through DF last year using one and it was just a teeny tiny bit of a hassle to start it up every time :)

Do you think you could make a version of your files without the added mods like the Bowcaster? Or find out which mods they are? These mods are what prevented me from using your script as I wanted an exact vanilla experience :)

[edit]
It took me several months to notice, but apparently just shortly after commenting you've added to the opening post that the mods can easily be deleted. Nice! This seems to make your package a non-brainer :)

Thanks! This is working great! Just one question: any way to inverse mouse look?

It's already been answered.

Capncorky: I changed 2 things according to my tastes. First was that I swapped the ">" & "<" signs so that scrolling up looked up, and down looked down. I also changed the value to "3", since I found that my horizontal scrolling was a lot slower than the vertical. Along with that, I increased the mouse sensitivity in game to make up for the slower look speed.

OK Thanks. But i have a new problem now. The keyboard is not working at all. I just installed Dark Forces again and copied the files. Some keys were not working. After restart it does not work at all. I cannot even enter my name.
Mouse is not working either. That is even without the changes.

That's strange. There should be "Launch Settings" executable in your installation folder. Run it and then go to "Controller Setup" menu. See if there is something wrong with your keyboard\mouse mapping. Also if you can, when running the game hit "ctrl + f1", it will open another keyboard mapping menu for you, try playing around with it as well.

Everything seems OK. Still - the keyboard is not working.
Um, I installed your script and everything works. Except that glovepie does not start automatically. Any ideas?

What OS are you running? I haven't tested under Win10. Also what security software are you running, antivirus and firewall? One of those may be blocking the script from executing fully.

If you really want to know what's going on, here's the content of the script. If you enter each line manually from a command prompt in the installation directory, this should reveal what is failing to run.
cd gpie
start glovepie.exe -dforces.pie
cd..
cd dosbox
DOSBox.exe -conf "..\dosbox_DF.conf" -conf "..\dosbox_DF_single.conf" -noconsole -c
taskkill /f /im glovepie.exe

Yeah to say the default control scheme is a nightmare would be putting it mildly, and I didn't know how to change it myself. This compilation makes the game a hell of a lot more playable, I'll be sure to recommend it to anyone else recommended interested in the game. Thanks again.
Right, I'm having an issue with glovePIE not executing in your script. Same issue as Imperial_Harbinger. Windows can't seem to find the glovepie executable even with the (seemingly) correct script in your executable. There shouldn't be any issues, but the game itself still launches, with the unfortunate caveat that in-game I can't seem to use C, X, and Z, and some keys such as A and S type extra keys.

For example, in the menu where you enter your name for Agent Profiles, I press C and it does not register, and I press A and it registers as "A,"

Quite annoying, as you can imagine. Otherwise the game runs perfectly fine.

Edit: I am also running Windows 10, and without any antivirus issues.

I would use this, but the up/down axis is the wrong way for my playstyle, and there is no way to change it. I prefer up is up, down is down, not the opposite way!

So although I can't use it as I cannot change the axis, I want to still say thanks for the work you did to make this app.

I'm not familiar with GlovePIE, but it's just scripting, so it shouldn't be hard to reverse the Y axis. He mentions in the first post: "To modify mouse mappings, modify the GlovePie dforces.pie script in the /gpie folder." Have a look there.
