Hey, does anyone know if there's a way (via DOSbox I presume) to rebind controls in Dark Forces ro have WASD movement (and other changes)?
You can change all key bindings except for the mouse in the game's separate settings. I guess there should be a shortcut to it in the start menu, otherwise just drag the INSTALL.EXE in the game's folder onto the dosbox.exe to access it.

I highly recommend to also use a program to get more modern mouse controls as well. The easiest way is to use TQuinn's Dark Forces Plus (see the thread just below yours here), for which I made a separate (in my opinion superior) configuration on the last page. Using both of these, Dark Forces will be fully configured and ready to play in a very good way.
This is killing me. There is no "install.exe" in the game folder, only "setup." Setup does not launch by dragging it into the Dosbox window. I can't find any keybinds anywhere. Don't want to use the mod because it changes too much. PC Gaming Wiki has nothing on configuration. Ctrl + F1 just crashes Dosbox.

Can anyone tell me clearly how to change the keybinds for Dark Forces in Windows 10? Thanks.

Edit: I found how to make setup work, you have to launch it from the start menu. Why is this? I have no idea. I haven't used the start menu in Windows for years.

Anyway... thanks.
Sorry for the confusion (all those years). I only owned the game on Steam before and found the mistake: In the Steam version the setup is called INSTALL.EXE, in the GOG version it is actually SETUP.EXE. Otherwise they work identically and just dragging the file onto the dosbox.exe should work.

I recommend playing the game with XL Engine, which is a fan-made engine for playing several old LucasArts games, which gives the game modern standard FPS controls. The engine is no longer actively developed, but it still works well for Dark Forces. You can find the last release on Internet Archive.
