Before I start to write anything I would like to tell you guys how happy I am that battlefront 2 servers are back but I cannot say THANKS GOG. And why can't I say that? Well you guys say that battlefront 2 has multiplayer. You just left part where it says that it is actually unplayable.
It's like you order a pizza and the restaurant guaranties that it will be delivered within an hour. The pizza arrives 3 hours late, cold and they forgot to bring the drink with it. You have a pizza as they promised but it isnt what you expected or ordered. Same as here. You said "we brought back multiplayer" only it is completly unplayable. We dont see any signs that you actually working on the fix. So my question is: WHAT A HELL ARE YOU DOING? I am so pissed about this.
I bought the game again just to play MP and it doesnt work. I partly can understand why Dvd release are not supported and I accapt that fact. But I certeanly do not accpet that this GOG version do not work as it supposed to be.

Give us a date when will it be fixed. Because without working MP it is false advertising. And if the game just aint ready to release then dont release it. Pissed... So pissed....
That is seriously lame. I just bought this as well for MP.

Does GOG ever respond to these forums? We deserve a time frame for when they'll fix it
I've been playing my 2005 retail version since gamepsy days. I bought the game again to expand the multiplayer experience.

Let me sum up my experience:

Gamranger, Tungle, etc... hate them but they work.
Swbfspy.... works great.

GOG/Steam...... such a disappointment. I can see games but have only succesfully connected to one and that was laggy. Otherwise........... connnecting until timeout.

The greatness of this game is mutliplayer!

I knew as soon as I saw steam was involved that is was going to be shit.... so far I'm right.

UPDATE: Connects better without Galaxy running. I just run the exe.... still logs etc...
Pings show 0 for all but porgram does sort low/high ping.

As Long as GOG pushes their agenda with Galaxy in EVERYTHING its "fixed" good enough for them.

GOG even went a step further and removed the damn LAN from SWBFII WHEN IT WAS JUST TIN THERE!

I am right with you OP, I am seriously freakin pissed at these agenda pushing actions from GOG.
They have stated that they are working on the netplay issues. LAN play is still there.

Can you please pointout where it is in a screenshot?

From where I recall its now absent , I looked high and low and I can not find any trace of it.
LAN still there.

Thanks a bunch for the screenshot.
Its not only the netplay problem they have. Thats a part of the problem.
The mainproblem is that they use selfhosted servers instead of dedicated servers. Thats why the ping is always 0 and u have trouble connecting.

a majority of the problems could be solved if they just worked with the modding community to incorporate dedicated server software that already exists. Why they didn't do this to begin just baffles me
Yeah the whole server setup really baffles me when the swbfgamers guys had a way better dedicated system with a modified exe file (swbfspy). Also you would think they would have reached out to these guys and some of the bigger game ranger server hosts to get more info on multiplayer aspect of the game and the most effective ways to get it running without major issues.

Or like... just change the master server address in the dedicated server exe to them of the new gog/Steam/Disney master server.

But nooooooo

Then this game would actually make fun again and maybe less people would buy the new swbf2 that comes out this month.

Agreed. This seemed rushed just to capitalise on the SWBF2 (EA) hype (or anti-hype for those against the newer games).

Your Anti-Steam rhetoric/bias is irrelevant here. GOG is COMPLETELY responsible for the Multiplayer. They made the choice to make it Crossplay, Valve/Steam played no direct part in the decision making or handling of the game according to known information.

If you're going to trash talk about the source of the problem, your idols, GOG, are to blame. sadly.

THIS

I mean the last update on the problem was on friday or so.

Now its 4 days later. And not even a SINGLE official comment/thread about.

No communication or status updates (even when nothing has really changed) show lack of interest, basic communication 101. So I wouldn't be surprised if the just try to fade this "problem" away..

I mean if they are really working on a fix (which shouldn't be that hard.. I mean the dedicated server software is already there, they have full access to the sourcecode. Basically they just need to change some pointer adresses) then they could at least give us some daily updates or status reports.

But nope. Only a few replies in a random thread a few days ago.
Yep, so, still no news...?

I guess GOG have turned to the dark side.

YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE GOG!

YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BRING BALANCE THE SERVERS, NOT DESTROY THEM.
