Hi.

I was looking into getting this game, when I saw the following disclaimer on the game's page:

AMD compatibility notice: Star Wars: Battlefront II does not support AMD Crimson Edition drivers 15.12 or newer, and requires version 15.11 (stable version) or older drivers.

But Freezy.146's answer from April 04 2017, and UltraComboTV's reply from April 09 2017, seem to indicate this is no longer an issue with the Crimson drivers.

If so, who/how can we notify to update the erroneous statement regarding old AMD drivers from this game's page?

Well, I opened a ticket at GOG Support to inquire.

We'll see how it goes.

It's not entirely fixed, theres still an issue with some graphical effects, for example the pool of water in Jabba's palace has a layer thats visible from anywhere in the map.

Well, that sucks...

A glimmer of hope, then.

Thank for the extra info.

Cheers.

EDIT:

Official reply from GOG Support, for completeness:

Unfortunately the game has some issues with AMD graphics devices that come and go. In most cases it should be ok, but each drivers update has the potential to be gamebreaking.

Cheers.

1. Go to https://mega. nz/#F!8tlAhDyQ!2AkAQukJKAYuIWEzDTGtFA!IslFkTSL
2. Click on Direct X 9.0
3. Right Click on 14.12.zip
4. Do a Standard Download
5. Extract Files to the Same location as BattlefrontII.exe (locations for both Steam and disc versions will be provided below)

This will prevent you from having to do a driver "rollback" simply by using older AMD Driver Dlls.

Some people have reported crashes after applying these changes. To fix this, use a different Driver Version under DirectX 9.0 for Step 3. Not all drivers may be supported by your AMD GPU which might cause your game to crash at launch.?

Disc Directory: Windows (C:) > Program Files (x86) > LucusArts > Star Wars Battlefront II > GameData >

Steam Directory: Windows (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > SteamApps > Common > Star Wars Battlefront II > GameData

If that doesn't work, which it most likely won't if you have a newer AMD card, try this fix instead: https://steamcommunity.com/app/6060/discussions/0/152392549361218280/

Compatibility is not a question and never was. New OS and drivers are meant for performance upgrade or to extending already existing usability. Do not expect anyone in the software development industry caring about backward compatibility. This is why I never updated anything on my PC, and strangely it runs most softwares better than my friend's stronger PC with updated drivers.
