So I don't actually own this game on GOG but I do own it on Steam. While there isn't explicit online capability, you can still find a butt ton of games using a program called Tunngle.

Tunngle basically changes LAN to online. I'm not smart enough to figure out how but it's like Himachi but works through LAN. Check it out if you want, I use it with no problems and can always find many, many games.

Just thought I would mention that here for people.
gameranger for battlefront 2 as well. people are still playing it. and you can host your own server through it.
Gameranger works:

http://www.gameranger.com/download/

Just install, create an account and run it.

The SW - Battlefront II Servers seems to be very empty :(

well both good and bad news then. glad it works with the gog version. I was playing online in November with my disc copy and there were still quite a few people playing. definitely not tons of people but still some dedicated fans.

now this was less than a year ago but people were still playing jedi academy online. crazy right? that game has some dedicated fans too.
Well, for the GoG Community is the Gameranger Client not the best way to find members from the GoG Community.

I hope that GoG - Galaxy will deliver a solution for that problem...

Will Galaxy include a server brower based on tools like Hamachi?

It would be very usefull, in my opinion.

EDIT:

There seems to be 2 Problems to play the GoG Version online:

1. Can´t create a GameSpy LogIn (I don´t know for what it is need because were shutted down...)

2. Invalid CD key from the digital Version?! :´-(

darn. that's what I thought would happen. I still have my cd copy but still...

like you said it'd be great if gog somehow gets this working with gog galaxy. guess we'll have to see what's up with this version in the future. kind of confusing since on the right of the webpage it says multiplayer is no longer supported...but in the game's description they promote the multiplayer aspect:

"PLUS Improved Online Features - Engage in massive online battles with multiplayer action for up to 64 players. Play five different online game modes including Conquest, Assault, one-and two-flag Capture the Flag, and Hunt."

lan isn't necessarily online...but I'm not computer savvy so I imagine someone will correct me if I'm mistaken.
Yes, the multiplayer was the main aspect for me to buy the title...

No, it´s like Battlefield 1942 offline...

It sucks :-(
