I did a lot of digging and was able to fix most of the crashes, but there's one error (different from the ones we've seen before in this thread, and is not caused by model files) that pops up once for every couple dozen times you load a mission, especially on maps with asteroids, it seems. I don't think I can fix that, since nobody knows what causes it and it's too hard to reproduce to do systematic debugging, and to be honest, it's likely this is a bug that's part of the core game, at least when it interacts with the upgraded graphics of my mod since this bug was occeasionally reported by people as early as 2004.

In any case, I have updated the 3.3 download file on Moddb, it's at least a lot more stable than it was before, it also contains more dll files and such so that the GOG-wrapper works for non-GOG installations as well. I just put a disclaimer in the readme that crashes will occasionally happen in this game and I can't fix that because the core game was buggy to begin with.

Wonder if its worth the buy, mind telling me:

does this, or other mods, include "all" cannon ships?

Like ENT, TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, Movies 1-10?

In this (my) mod you pretty much get all canon ships from the prime timeline from TNG through VOY from the Federation, Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, Dominion, Ferengi, Borg, Breen, and Species 8472. Some of those are old designs that were around in the 23rd century.

I think this mod has even more ships, though they're not all canon: https://www.moddb.com/mods/httpswwwmoddbcommembersaldaja

But no, in general the game and the mod aren't like Star Trek Legacy with its different eras.
I have a small problem - I do no have any ship images on the left of the screen (my ship and enemy ship outlines) or in the vessel library. I have attached the image with the problem. Any clues how to solve this problem?

I don't know why this happens (but I know it's not because of my mod), but you could try a clean reinstall of the game. It would be interesting to check one thing though: go into the game folder (usually that's C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Star Trek SFC3 ) and then Assets/Models and open any of the folders for ships with missing outlines, for example BorgSphere, and check if there are bitmap (.bmp) files with "TI" or "VL" at the end of the name. If they're missing then that's your explanation and you should repair or reinstall the game. If they're not missing then you have some weird graphical glitch on your system and maybe a reinstall would fix that, but it's not guaranteed.
Hello,

I got a an issue with the mod when starting the game.
1.) The resolution is then set to 640x480 and fullscreen (thereby resetting the sizes of ALL programs that I launched to this point, even if they are minimized), ignoring the settings in GoG's dxcfg program (didn't you say that your mod works perfectly with GoG's DX wrapper?). But the intro videos are rendered only in a very tiny portion in the upper left of the screen, leaving most of the screen empty (black). After skipping the videos, the game is resetting its resolution again, this time respecting the settings of dxcfg. Also, I have to set 16-bit in the compatibility option to see the menu. GoG's vanilla version offers full 32-bit support (suspectedly, because it does not need this compatibility setting).
2.) I have to lower the resolution to 1024x768, otherwise large portions at the right and bottom of the main menu (including the background window) are not shown, but the mouse pointer is visible in these areas. I tried all combinations of options in dxcfg, but nothing helps but to lower the resolution. Higher resolutions make it even worse. To be fair, this also happens with the vanilla version.
3.) And then there is still the issue of vanishing models during warp speed. Weren't you planning on distributing dgvoodoo (iirc, it does not have this bug) along with the mod as an alternative? Or does this no longer work with 3.3?

My Specs:
Ryzen 7 5800X
32 GiB RAM
Radeon RX 6900 XT
Windows 10 21H1

I know that you most likely do not have the means to fix 2.) and possibly 3.), but maybe you can address 1.).

Gulli4: I'm proud to announce that version 3.3 of the SFC3 Upgrade Mod has been released, it can be downloaded here. Installation is quick and easy with the included installer

This is a mod that brings widescreen (without external tools/wrappers) to the game, on top of vastly improved graphics, new/improved skirmish and conquest missions, and many new ships and stations. Gameplay has also been made faster with ships being faster and weapons doing more damage. The conquest map now contains Cardassian, Dominion/Breen, and Ferengi empires. In addition several bugs and problems with the campaign have been solved, among many other changes.

-----------------------------------------------
IMPROVEMENTS IN VERSION 3.3
-----------------------------------------------

1) Support for the GOG version of the game.

2) Support for multiplayer through D4v1ks' SFCLauncher.

3) Fixes game slowdowns when multiple torpedoes impact a target.

4) Fixes crashes while loading a mission.

5) The game now runs on more systems and without blank screen/resolution issues.

6) Replaces space backgrounds with the best of those by NXAdam1701 for smoother, better backgrounds.
Nice mod, thanks for the work! I have an issue though, once I installed the mod the game is no longer full screen (I have widescreen). While this is not a major issue, the big problem is that it cuts the bottom of the game screen away so there are now some buttons I cannot press. Any idea how I can fix this? Not sure why it changed to this.
I have a problem. The mod was installed and the settings made. The result can be seen in the screenshots

Wanted to play that game again for a long time. I too noticed the vanishing starships at warp. However, if I am cloaked at warp the ship's model does not vanish. This is interesting.
Nice to see the Modding is still alive for SFCIII

For this reason alone i just bought the GoG Version
and will start yet another SFC III play ^^ (after quite some time)

thx Gulli4 for this

The mod is really great but I have a few issues when trying to play Federation Conquest campaign:

1. There aren't any regular missions (Scan, Intruder Alert, Casino, etc.) from the base game.
2. All I can do is attack enemy ships in the same sector. Is that expected?
3. When I win ANY starbase or planet attack mission (I destroy all enemy targets), the game says I was "defeated" any way and disbands my fleet.

Not sure if these issues are the mod, but I did a vanilla reinstall of the game and started a Federation Conquest campaign and everything seems to work. I was getting missions, etc.

Anyone have any ideas or experience something similar? I'd like to use the mod even for just the Prometheus class ship, but if I can't actually conquer sectors or win planet/starbase battles I'm not sure what the point is...

Thank you so much for doing this! I tried the 16 bit compatibility mode and the game works fine. This really breathed new life into this classic game.
How do I activate widescreen mode? I'm running on 1080p resolution and still see that its in 4:3.

Disregard. I was able to get it to work with the Upgrade Mod Version 3 mentioned in another post that I just noticed.
