Hmm...I liked Clear Sky. For me, Call of Pripyat is the weakest game of the three. The textures appeared to be worse than in the other games and Pripyat didn't look very well there. And just 3 regions? The old maps had more variety.
And I never understood why so many were angry about so many bugs in CS because I never found big or gamebreakting ones - the game worked well.

My personal list of the STALKER games are
1. SoC
2. CS
big gap
3. CoP

With the textures and what not from the 'complete' mode I'd have to say it looks beautiful. If you haven't tried it, do so.
No. I enjoyed it a lot, but that is with the Complete mod. People can call me odd for that if they want, but you have lots of gunfights and random encounters as well as having to manage your inventory, for example I pack the 1300 shotgun and a few shells for animals and build a rifle for the area I'm in. Freedom territory I go with a 5.56 rifle, Duty I go with a 5.45 rifle. It's a good experience with the Complete mod for me and my older brother. Sadly one of my friends who sticks to COD says the game is too slow. So, eh. People nowadays just want that 'killstreak NOW' thing I guess.

This mod allows you to return from Limansk as well as in vanilla you would need to push through untill the end.
Thank you for posting that link. I'll definately use it.

Yeah, personally I didn't like Call of Pripyat as much as I liked the first part, either, because of the strange map design.
It always felt so limited for me like playing a board game. But nevertheless it was okay.
Many of the areas are barely-different retreads of the original SoC, but without any of the underground labs. There's a much greater emphasis on combat, and by the end the game quite literally becomes a linear military FPS with cutscenes every five minutes. It's borderline unplayable in itys vanilla state, and even after several years of mods, it's still not exactly a polished, stable game.

CS is still STALKER, so it's still a great experience, but to my mind it's the weakest of the three.

In its defense, I think the gunplay in CS was maybe the strongest of the three, and it's the only one that made bleeding a legitimate threat.

EDIT: oh yeah, and it shows the location of enemies on your PDA, which was a really really stupid idea. It makes traversing the zone significantly less tense or immersive.

I really enjoyed Clear Sky. The faction elements made things feel more alive, like there was a world around you that didn't just sit there waiting for you to get into view before doing something.

Never could finish the faction wars though. Your faction members were just too weak on their own to defend any area without you, and it always seemed like the enemy faction spawned at an incredibly high rate when you got close to taking out their base.

The artifacts were greatly improved too. No longer were they nearly-useless trinkets you'd trip over in the street and just sell for some weapon money. They actually had a decent impact on gameplay, and were challenging to get since they were in the middle of anomaly fields.

The last stages of the game are a bit tedious at times, since you lose the element of freedom that makes the series what it is. I didn't mind the helicopter "boss", and if they didn't show a health bar on it, most players wouldn't realize that it could be destroyed since it takes such a beating.

Overall, it's still a great game, and for the price you simply can't go wrong.

Pretty much. It's arguably the weakest of the series in terms of atmosphere, but there are some really good things about it. It's still a brilliant game, once you fix all the stability issues with some modding.
