I wanted to ask you wether you think Clear Sky is indeed worse than Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat and why.
Cause I think of buying it because I liked the other two a lot but Clear Sky has so many bad reviews.

3. Too many action .

4. Boss - Helicopter (with healthbar , of course)

5. BUGS !

The first 2/3 of the game is great. Unfortunately it turns into a raily CoD clone after that which I still enjoyed but definitely not as good. The last map absolutely sucks donkey balls which I think is a lot of the reason for the games bad reputation as it leaves a bit of a bad taste after finishing the game (so to speak).

The weakest of the series but still worth it IMHO. YMMV as always.

Chris.
Thanks to both of you for answering so fast!
A Helicopter bossfight with healthbar is indeed not so sparkling, I'm not fond of bossfights at all so that might be even worse :p
and a lot of action isn't inviting, too, if I liked it I would have played CoD itself, after all there are quite enough parts to choose from^^
so I'll keep thinking about buying it...but only for the atmosphere given by the landscape, I guess, and maybe for completing the series.
Theres plenty of mods to help sort out some of the gameplay flaws / annoyances.

...and yes - as said its definately the weakest of the series, but still has some great stuff (red forest for instance).
I really don't recall any Helicopter boss fight. The game did get rather linear near the end, so did SoC though.

There might've been a helicopter, but if there was and I forgot about it, then I am certain I just evaded it. Don't recall taking down any helicopters.

IIf you interesting where you can encounter helicopter - PM me.

I don't want to post spoilers here.

All I can say - you can't miss it - Helicopter is main quest boss .

Just looked it up on Youtube. I don't remember the helicopter, but I do remember the locale. I sort of connected that area with Call of Pripyat though.
If you're looking to buy the other two titles here, then you may as well get Clear Sky while you're at it. Because of the way the discount works, buying all three is actually the cheapest option.

If you don't have any of the games yet, it's cheaper to grab this one too for the 70% discount bump.
The most annoying thing of Clear Sky for me was that bloodsuckers could only be killed when not in stealthmode and I didn't like that in the last part you couldn't return anymore which caused me major trouble during my first playthrough as I quickly ran out of first aid kits.
Other than that, the first level in the swamps was amazing and so is the town of Limansk and the asylum was also great, didn't mind the bossfight that much as it was only a very minor part of the game.
I recommend using the complete mod for this though.
I bought Clear Sky at another place because it was on sale for a ridiculously low price ( I think I got it for around $1.49 or so)

So anyway I bought it, installed it, played for a couple of hours and then uninstalled it never to be touched again. Yes, it is incredibly bad compared to the other 2 games.
If I could give you my copy of the game I would because I have no desire ever play it again but unfortunately that isn't possible.

In the end I LOVED S.O.C..I really like C.O.P. Clear Sky? *Shudders* No.... Just......no.
thank you all for the answers, so the attitude towards the game seems as ambivalent as my eagerness to take a decision. well, I'm a collector and I somehow can't stand that I've only played part one and three so I think I'll buy it now (not the whole series because I have the other ones on cd and the cd of Clear Sky is really rare and therefore expensive). at least mentioned places like the red forest and the swamps will justify buying it,they look marvelous. but unfortunately I'm not that familiar with mods so I don't know which one I will need for an enhanced gaming experience.
It's the worst game of the franchise, but it's still a damn good FPS.

This mod allows you to return from Limansk as well as in vanilla you would need to push through untill the end.
