I heard that Splinter Cell 3 Chaos Theory is available on Amazon with no DRM. Is that correct? That's what someone who reviewed it on Amazon said:

Would make sense, as afaik the only thing that makes it unplayable on Win x64 machines is the DRM. Without it it works flawlessly.

That is the worst thing the drm. Chaos theory is my personal fav in the series, but what an absolute swine it is to run on 64 bit windows. The only thing that worked for me was to get a no-cd patch. Same with Max Payne 1 and 2 I just gave up on them for the same reasons.

I bought it through Amazon when it was on sale for $2.50 and it has no DRM on it.

I had bought the original retail copy at a store when it was released in 2005.
When i wanted to play the game again this year i had to use a no dvd crack to get iy running, because securom does not support Windows 8. So a copy of Steam or amazon would be easier to get running.

I would buy it if I could turn off the hud. I tried the demo and there are two tweaks to disable the hud, but both make the game impossible to play (and one makes the menus invisible).

If it's at all worth mentioning, I happened to pick up a re-release pack that seems to have dummied out the DRM for Chaos Theory. In fact, I can actually run it without the disc--no cracks or tweaks--so I'm pretty much positive it's 100% DRM free, or at least utterly transparent if it does exist in some form.

Double Agent appears to have the same treatment as I don't need its disc either (though really you should play that on an Xbox 360 if you can help it).

Conviction, unsurprisingly, still requires Uplay (and a constant internet connection), and in my experience it was a nightmare to get running legitimately under Windows 8.

There's also a newer collection that might be worth looking into called "Splinter Cell Ultimate Edition".

There's a pretty good chance it treats at least Chaos Theory and Double Agent the same way (but I'm not going to be bothered to own multiple versions of these games just to confirm that):
