Hello, I recently bought Splinter Cell here on GoG, but there doesn't appear to be any "High" setting for the Effects Quality and Shadow Resolution settings. I'm certain my computer can handle this, so does anyone know how to get the game to acknowledge a High setting? Do I need to edit the game files or something?

I'm running this game on Windows 8.1

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I installed Direct X SDK June 2010 and rebooted the computer, but unfortunately there's still no High setting in-game.

I noticed there were multiple Direct X SDK versions available...since this is an old game, would I have to download an earlier, or latest version? Or is 2010 the correct one?

Yeah.
Hmm, did you run it as admin? Also try different compatibility modes. (right click on game .exe/shortcut)

I ran the program both as Admin and in both the recommended compatibility settings, and a couple of custom compatibility settings it provided based on the problem. Still no dice.

I probably should have mentioned this before, but unlike the other two settings, "Shadow Detail" has a High option.

Also, I found some threads regarding the INI file -

They're about other issues, but do you think editing the INI file would help? Maybe by somehow "tricking" the game into High settings? Sorry for any ignorance on this btw...not that great at this stuff. :P
