I thought I read somewhere that only approximately 2% of spacechem players make it to the end. I am about 2/3 through and stuck on the last mission on the 4th to last planet. I think I will give it some more effort but I refuse to go online and "cheat" my way through with a walkthrough. Perhaps I am destined to be part of the 98%? Was wondering what other people's experience is?

PS-I think this is one of the best puzzle games ever created.

I also made it to the 6th planet (out of 9). But I only completed 5 of the missions on it, with 3 still unsolved. It is a good game, but it is also extremely difficult and that's what prevents people from finishing it. The DLC seems to be even harder.

Oh boy. After a few hours of game time, and probably 3 complete strategy retries, I finally finished that damn mission. Awesome!

Now off to the 3rd to last planet (space station) for some new challenges!

Well, after being stuck on the last mission of the space station (3rd to last stage), "Don't Fear the Reaper", I finally beat it. I had to use 3 manual switches and it wasn't a "pretty" solution but it worked! I'm so ecstatic I had to post this!

I really really want to finish this game, but I keep going back and re-doing all of my solutions to try and get it done in the least possible amount of cycles. As a result, I get burnt out by the 2nd planet.

One day, though, I swear I will finish this game.

I'm just happy to get through each level, never mind "optimizing" them! :)

I'm actually on the last level of the game, but I have to build up the mental strength to really take it on! I have a feeling that it will take me quite some time to beat that one.

It could be worse. I could be going for the least amount of cycles and the least amount of symbols used. Now that would really drag things out.

I'll most definitely have to forget about optimising things. Maybe save that for a 2nd run if I'm really feeling it.

The two last solutions before the two last bosses took me about fifteen hours each to design. The second-to-last boss took me just a few hours, and I haven't even started on the last boss - I took one look and decided to forget about it. No way am I syncing up five reactors to an asymmetric puzzle.

Maybe I can do it as a summer project.

Sad to say I am with you on this. I'm on the last level (actually started a little of it) and I just knew this is going to take me weeks of work. Maybe one day I will go back and finish it up. It seems ridiculously complex.

I started a little and got two of the reactors up and running, and then realised that keeping the output and input balanced would require syncing up every reactor available, and may in fact be impossible if one considers that not all of the output is supposed to be constantly active. I don't remember if I wrote the previous post before or after I realised that.

Maybe if the top output used a finite cycle design akin to the second last boss...? It's amazing what you can think of at 4 in the morning. I need to sleep on this.

My wife's beaten the entire game including the DLC (by herself of course).

I got to the final boss and went 'holy crap, I'll have to do this.. later.. when I have brainpower'. I never returned.

However I like to be proud of myself for somehow getting to the 2nd to last planet before my wife looks over and goes 'why do your solutions look so horrifically godawful, you know you can make the red waldo do the blue input and output and vice versa right?' Mind was blown. I hadn't even considered you could do that by clicking on them :(

I went back and started replaying it from scratch yesterday and the beginning levels are a heck of a lot easier now...

Impressive.

Until the end of the 3rd planet I've forgotten that I can actually move bonding points within a reactor :)

I am on last boss fight. I have set up production of all needed materials, but I struggle to fight the enemy. I am not loosing hope, but just realising that there is possibility, I wont manage to finish this.

When I played Angry Birds I didn't know the birds had powers you could activate in mid-flight.
Was about 80% finished and was thinking, "This game is SO DAMN HARD - I surprised it's so popular."

then I hit the spacebar by accident and saw the blue bird go all MIRVY and said "ooooooo."
