Or should I go for SR2 Reboot?

I know all the content from SR2 is included in Reboot, but what bout SR1? People say SR2 is the same game but better in terms of gameplay, but what about story? Are SR1's text adventures included in SR2, for example, or does it still have a lot of exclusive content?

From what I have heard, you will do fine with just getting Space Rangers 2. I have played some of the first one, and haven't tried the second one yet, but it seems that the second one is quite similar but pretty much improved in every way, plus they've added things like planet surface battles and other cool things. I doubt there are many references to the first game; there's not much in terms of story, rather it's more of a freeform, open-universe kind of game.

Please note that the version of Space Rangers 2 found on GOG does NOT include the Reboot expansion.

I know, but I like to play all I can, so if there's a lot of exclusive content in SR1 (like text adventures, as I mentioned), I'd still like to play it first, specially because the second is improved.

It would have been frustrating to play Fallout 1 if I had played Fallout 2 first, for example.

Well, I'm not sure about text adventures because I didn't play long enough to encounter any (but do not fear, they are there). I can say that the main enemies in Space Rangers 1 are completely different from those in Space Rangers 2. So in that respect you would be missing out by not playing the first game.

I thoroughly enjoyed what I played of the first game and I intend to return to it, so you certainly can't go wrong with playing it. I've just heard that it's hard to go back to SR1 once you've played SR2. As long as you play them in order, there shouldn't be any problems.

So I guess I'm saying you should go ahead and play both!
Okay then, if no one comes and says that the first one is in some way completely included in the second, I will just play the two of them in order.

Thanks =)

On GOG, they are completely separate games. I have heard, however, that there are some versions of Space Rangers 2 that include Space Rnagers 1... they are still separate games but you get them both when you buy it. I do not know which versions are like this. It's possible that some other digital retailers offer such a package but I don't know which ones, so you'll have to research that yourself.
After completing Space rangers 2 I wanted to play the first one I'm not far into it yet but here are some difference

less starting class, only three fighter, merchant, pirate

no option to start with upgraded equipment

the interface is not quite the same not as streamlined

different text adventures- I like the ones in SR1 as much as in SR2

increasing skills works differently you get SR points for bringing back nodes and for every 2-3 missions these can then be spent

More black hole mini games in hyper space (removed in SR2 for planetary battles)

So far I don't regret getting SR1 I've found it has helped my understanding of SR2 it does have less content but in some ways that’s good when starting out. Its also nice to get the story which is referenced in SR2. If I had to only choose one game it would be SR2 but I am happy to play both

hope this helps
