Hey all

Can anyone help me make these work on a Mac? I assumed the download would work in DosBox or Boxer, but there is only one file:

setup_space_quest_1_2_3.exe

and it won't load. Is there a way to make these work? Can't seem to find documentation to help...

Thanks!
No, sorry, the installer is a Windows EXE and needs to be started on a Windows machine.

You can then copy the files over to your Mac and use ScummVM, for example, to play it.
It might be possible to run the installer with wine / Winebottler (windows emulator), but I haven't tried this approach.

i installed it on a windows pc and then skydrived it to my mac. it works in dosbox. pretty sure you can just install it using wine and then move it to dosbox
I got it to work by extracting it with crossover game (but darwine should work) and then adding it to boxer (http://boxerapp.com/)

I do have a few issues though:
- I can't get space quest 4 to recognize the MT32 even though I've setup the rom
- Space quest 6 is quite slow

I'll try and see how it works with scummvm (for 4 and 5)
I used Wine to extract the files, then loaded them into ScummVM.

I've not tried to play these games with DosBox, but ScummVM works so well.
I have just downloaded the same game series and encountered the same issue...I am currently working on a fix and will repost in that event.

I was able to get the Space Quest games, downloaded from GOG, to play on my Mac. As suggested above, I installed the game from the .exe file using Winebottler, then explored the package contents of the 'app' it creates and copied the game directory somewhere easy to fine. I added the game to ScrummVM, pointing to that directory I copied, and it worked great.

It works fine.
ScummVM even fixes all sorts of glitches in Space Quest 4 (the game was known for issues) automatically.

Space Quest 6 support will be available soon-ish.

Space Quest 1-5 are fully supported by ScummVM btw. (Space Quest 1 both the original AGI version and the VGA SCI remake, not sure if GOG offers both)

If you're handy with the command line (Terminal), check out this post: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/extracting_gog_installer_exe_under_mac_os_x/post2 about using innoextract to extract the self-extracting files on a Mac.
