Hey everyone!

I just bought this game a few days ago. I'm really enjoying it so far. I loved the top down space shooters of ages past (I used to play Solar Winds, back in '93, if anyone still remembers that).

Anyway, I had a question about Bounty Hunters. I know that you need to hunt and destroy the same ship over and over to pick up the blueprints. And I guess that you need to raise the Bounty in a Bounty-Hunter controlled area in space in order for them to eventually attack you, so you can destroy their ship and use their stuff.

My question is: Is there a faster way to have the Bounty Hunters appear without getting the Bounty score at its maximum? 2500 seems a big number to obtain if every ship I blow up gives 4-6 Bounty.

Thanks for your help, space explorers!

You can get it up there without too much trouble. If you are impatient: visit Bounty Hunter base, attack base, get some distance and destroy the spawned ships. Just make sure you have extra Rez and crew available.

I was actually terrified at the idea of attaking the base, because it seemed like a sure way to get vaporized instantly.

But that's what saved games are for!

Thank you for the suggestion!

Even then it's not a big deal. Run out of rez? Then use the retreat command, lick your wounds, build a few tugs for free and hit up some systems with friendly mining bases, rebuild your stock, and you're back in the fight in no time.
Ok, now for a new question in the same vein...

I'm trying to get Brutes to pop up. So that I can *talk* to them. (By that I mean blowing them up, stealing the blueprints for the sole purpose of building some for myself).

But I CAN'T make them appear. I'm currently harassing a lvl.26 Bounty Hunter-controlled system (where they have their base), as well as a lvl 31 system. Avec base. Whenever I attack them, or get locked down, Pélicans appear with cloaked small/tiny ships.

Should I be picking on stronger systems? Or is it just bad luck?
Not sure. It seemed it took a while for them to start bringing in Brutes, and it was piecemeal for a long time. Later, they show up often. I think I remember them coming a bit more when choosing the "Civs vs UTA" missions, whether or not you have a poor relationship with either of those two. Every once in a while when you try to leave the system you'll get a message about paying a bounty "or else". Those tended to give more Brutes though that may be my memory playing tricks or just some random factor that had them show up more often for those fights with the Clockwork.

If you want some real challenge, piss off both sides, get your bounty maxed, and then take on a Civs vs UTA mission. Coming at you from all sides. And throw in zombies later. Heh - good fun.

The Brute is worth the effort. Really nice platform - my favorite for that size of hull. My first time through the game I got it pretty quickly. Last game, it took a very long time. Probably random chance.
