This is something I wondered about because I've yet to purchases this game, but some people seems to make it looks like there is no versus multiplayers, while others seemed to make it looks like there was one actually(in the form of scenario based maps, with players having to fulfill one goal and the others another), something making it sound like the original version didn't had the versus mode later brought by some expansion pack or something(though I might be confusing with another game).
So, I wondered, as someone who likes competitive play, if someone could confirm whether or not there is a mode permitting players to play competively in the gog version.

Nevermind. Just tested the game and it does have Versus modes.
