When I try to start the game I get the "Exception looking for registry node with empty name (eregistry.ccp 115).

Have you tried running the game using different compatibility settings and in Admin mode if on vista?
If none of that works could you please post your system specs and the OS your using?
Yes I have tried different modes and the like, I am pretty sure it is a registry error. I will attach my dxdiag to here because that is the most detailed and easiest, just change the extension from .jpg to .txt and it should work. Hope you can help. I will try installing it again and will tell you if that works.
-edit I tried to uninstall and reinstall it and it did not help.

Hi,
Is this with the gog version of Soldiers ?
Did you had some other version of soldiers installed at any point ?
Uninstalling the game doesn't mean that all the registry entries are being removed...
I have uninstalled it again and am using both of my registry cleaners maybe that will help, and yes the is the GOG version and I have never installed any other version.
Ok after scanning and getting rid of all my registry errors then installing again I still have the exact same problem after trying to run.

Could it be that your AV is preventing some registry key to be written during the installation ? Have you tried installing it with your AV disabled ?
Note: You might want to disable your internet connection before switching off the AV for testing.
There's a mention of the same exact problem here. No solution was posted, though.

Ok I will try that and I am looking into seeing if one of the patches can help.
A new odd thing has occurred, I noticed the show settings for all users button and clicked on it, it was set to windows 98 compatibility mode. I changed it to none and then tried to launch the game, instead of the normal error, it starts to go a little farther then it says "program will be terminated: and quits. So apparently this game must be run in windows 98.

Try running it in windows XP compatibility mode, system requirements on alot of sites state 98 minimum and XP as recommended.
Also your dxdiag attachment didn't work because you can only upload pictures to gog. If you could just copy and paste the top half relevent part of it onto the forum if the XP compatibility doesn't work that would be great.
What you do is right click and hit save as and after you download it just change the extension to .txt (it worked for me just now), and I have been using XP mode and it only gives me the warning "program will be terminated"
but I will add the first half of dxdiag just in case.

Profileth: What you do is right click and hit save as and after you download it just change the extension to .txt (it worked for me just now), and I have been using XP mode and it only gives me the warning "program will be terminated"
but I will add the first half of dxdiag just in case.

Ok, just some clarification.
You no longer get the registry error. Is that correct ?
The new error:
Do you manage to start the game (go into the option menu, etc) or doesn't the game start at all?
yes I do not get the error when I do not use windows 98 compatibility mode, but it crashes on right after as I get to the initial loading screen which comes right after you run it and this happens on any other mode every time.

Hi,
Unfortunately, no. I didn't find a fix for this error anywhere on the web.
You should contact support with the error description and your DxDiag if you haven't done so already.
By default the game is running at windows 98 compatibility mode, switching it to WIndows XP SP3 compatibility mode solved this crash problem for me.
