Hello, since I received more help from the community than from gog people so far: Anybody found a way to get around the fact that the game gives a black screen after showing the soldiers logo? It's been mentionned in another topic, but no one seemed to check it out anymore :(

Never did. I had problems with a few games and stopped buying from gog until they added that money back clause.

Well, this might seem like a banal solution, but try restarting your PC. I had the exact same issue and it worked for me. I have the retail disk and not the GOG version though (v1.28.3E), can't imagine the GOG version being much different though.

Thanks for the tip.
I've tried different times to reboot, booth up in different configurations, boot clean etc. Didn't work for me. End up with returning the game.

Steam sells this game as Win2000/XP-compatible only (i.e. Vista, 7, 8 not supported). Maybe that's the reason.

Hi, I was having similar issues and I got it working.

1. download the 1.28 patch for Soldiers (soldiers-heroes-of-world-war-ii-v128-mp-patch.zip)
NOTE: If you try to launch the game after install this patch this you will get prompted to reboot--repeatedly. Rebooting does not fix it because the drm (star force) won't work on win7-10. I think the vista patch removes it
2. download the vista patch (Soldiers_HoWW2_Vista_Patch.exe). It is my understanding that this also removes the drm
NOTE: If you try to run this after the vista patch it will most likely crash.
3. change compatability mode to Vista
This worked flawlessly for me. All intro splash screens progressed normally without prompting and the Tiger tank showed up after the progress bar filled.

I am running this on Windows 10.

Hi guys, my games stoped work after start screen with message " the game will be terminated".
I switched comptibility mode for this game to Windows XP service pack 3. And it nicely works.
I hope it can helps someone.
Enjoy that masterpiece game :)
