IronArcturus: I was able to fix the black screen problem by changing the nGlide Gamma to 1.0 or higher. I used the version of nGlide that Sin Gold has installed by default.
Yes, that's right, and the cause is that is uses an older version of nGlide which has fewer options for gamma. So if you have any other games using newer versions of nGlide then you'll need to reset the configurator for them too, each and every time you play an nGlide game.

I passed the info over to GOG support as in my post above but apparently the latest version of nGlide doesn't work on all their test rigs so it wasn't included in their package. For me it works fine, though, so I replaced the nGlide version provided by GOG for SiN with the latest one. Now all my nGlide games use the same version.

I still wish nGlide would go back to using .ini files so that they could be controlled on a per game basis using the nGlide files inside each game's installation folder. Using the registry to store the settings has broken different version compatibility when they changed the number of options for gamma.

I really wish there was a way to run the game in a window. But from what I've read, it looks like nGlide doesn't support a windowed mode for some reason.

I've no idea how to run nGlide in a window either. I know that DxWnd can run DirectX9 programs in a window, but nGlide isn't the program being run, the game is being run whilst nGlide is just intercepting the 3DFX calls.

Possibly you could use DxWnd on the SiN.exe and use a smaller resolution in nGlide than your desktop resolution, and maybe, just maybe it would run in a window. Long shot though, I'd have thought.

The only alternative would be to run a virtual machine in a window and use SiN within the virtual machine, but that's a lot of hassle and you'll lose some hardware acceleration.

EDIT: Just found out that there has been another release of nGlide, so it is now up to v1.03. All the settings have the same options, though, so should remain compatible with 1.02. Still no windowed option, though.

You could always look to using a different 3DFX emulator such as dgVoodoo if you really want to run it windowed. No idea how dgVoodoo gets on with SiN, but it could be worth a try.

1. Delete the "glide" DLLs from Sin's directory.
2. Install nGlide yourself.
3. Turn off vertical synchronization in nGlide to avoid sound glitches.
4. Profit!

Sufyan: Installing nGlide 1.02 instantly fixed the problem for me.

On another note, the intro videos do not play when I launch the game with the autoexec.cfg. Launching the game-executable directly does play the videos, though very awkwardly by changing screen resolution and minimizing the game a few times.
Your tip for the intro video worked for me, even if I have several changing screen resolution before and after the video. Thanks & +1.

Edit : Is there a risk to miss the other videos if I run the shortcut instead of the game executable ?

Thanks. I was having all sorts of trouble getting sin to run. For me Gamma set to 0.7
This fixed all issues

botch: After the intro I get sound but no picture.

Running a gtx 780 on windows 7 Home Premium with a AMD FX 8350.

Any suggestions?

RiffRaff1138: Try running sin.exe directly, rather than using the shortcut the installer created. If that works, go to the Controls menu and set everything up as you like. Once that's done, exit the game, go to the game's "base" folder, copy the "player" folder from there into "2015" and overwrite files, so that Wages will be configured the same as the base game.
Strangely enough, I was only having the black screen problem with Wages of Sin, not the base game.
This worked for me, copying the profile from one to the other fixed it. Thanks!
I just thought why it's black screen after intro, then i noticed that the gamma settings in nglide was empty set it to 1.0 and now it works.

UncleJeet: This might fix it for you. Go grab the latest version of nGlide here, then just install it and try running Sin again. Worked for me. Here's the link: http://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide
This fixed everything right away for me. Thanks!
I have the problem of a 'grey' screen after launch. No sounds, and changing the gamma does nothing. I've installed the latest version of nglide, 2.0, but this does not help.

Any suggestions?
I have the same problem with the add-on. Everytime i start it, the screen is black and i can hear the Menu-Sound. Then i press the Windows-Key on my Keyboard that brings me back to the Desktop and then i go in the program again and after a short time it works.

I faced similar problem on very old hardware with WindowsME. Problem is that the game is set to run in 3dfx/nglide mode as default. What helped me was, that I temporary moved 3 files (glide.dll,glide2x.dll,glide3x.dll) away from game directory and then started the game. The game itself reverted to software rendering, but then I could set the rendering to different method which worked for me (OpenGL).Then I moved the files back where they belonged.
