The supplied link for the download is in OGG Vorbis, I highly approve of this :) 19.8meg download for those wondering, and is in mono. (also they request not to directly link to them).
A HQ Stereo OGG Vorbis version at 70.3meg is also available at said first link, along with a DS version.
downloading nonetheless for some tuneage :}
edit: Or I would, but it keeps cutting me out 20% through. will retry later, but the samples sound rather promising.

so how exactly do i install this on the default installation of simon the sorceror 1?
theres no F6 ingame menu. (tested on 3 different computers - f6 does nothing at all)
so how am i supposed to edit the sound settings to 44khz? and seriously, does just editing the playback rate make the scummvm engine choose ogg vorbis files instead of the games own midis ???
I just dumped all the files in the SImon1 directory, and it worked immediately. I'm guessing it's setup to look for the overrides, but default to standard if not exist.
(unless I was fiddling about and somehow set it without knowing before this the links were posted)
You can go into the ScummVm dir in the game dir, and run ScummVM from there, where you can set various sound/audio/control options.

Thanks Ois.
Yeah it does seem to automatically look for and use any of these new files.
very good the music is too, although it does at times sound a bit too much like the original (tavern)

I have just moved to a new server, so hopefully the downloads should be far more reliable now.
There are instructions for using the soundtrack on my webpage:
http://www.jameswoodcock.co.uk/?page_id=954
I am actually planning on re-doing a lot of the soundtrack and re-releasing in the future, no idea when though.
I hope you enjoy my version...
All the best
James
PS: Discworld version 2.0 of my enhanced soundtrack will also be released in the near future!
GoG.com staff:
Any idea if this will be hosted/linked from the My Games list in our accounts? Not that it's required, but it would be a nice touch. If nothing else, perhaps a redirect link to a stickied thread?
Glidem:
I haven't listened to the soundtrack yet (downloading now), but thanks so much for making this available!

It's fan made, so I think that probably author would like people to visit his page :)

Sure, that makes sense. Any thoughts about adding a link to this thread from the My Accounts page?
I know you guys probably don't want to do it right now, but it sure would be handy to locate stuff.

Another good way to improve the music (in all games supporting MIDI) is to install virtualmidisynth and the midi soundfont of your choice.
I use arachno and hq orchestral sound fonts.
