This is the Special Edition, so it should include it, but I can't find the executable. The SCURK download link on the My Games page only has a zip with a pdf in it.

It was named Urban Renewal Kit on my PC. Score -1 for brain.

Where is it? I'm having the same problem; I've got the manual, SCURK.COM, SCURK.ICO, and SKURTART, but I can't find anything that I can use to run the program. The only things called "Urban Renewal Kit" that searching my computer reveals are the manual and a "Urban Renewal Kit.lnk" that does nothing but open DOSBox.

You can go to Start -> GOG.com (folder) -> SimCity 2000 Special Edition. The program will be neatly filed away there as the Urban Renewal Kit. I wish that the GOG installer would place a desktop icon for SCURK, but oh well.

One the mac version You need to start the game while pressing the option (alt) button, this will show the selection menu, from which you can start the game or the URK. I assume for the windows version you hold down the equivalent key, so i guess thats the alt key as well lol!

It's not there.

Well, I just tried this without success (I'm running the Windows version on Wine), but, since there now is a Mac version, I might try that when next I have the combination of urge and time.

I just installed this GOG version of SimCity in Vista. Here's what I did to find this program.

First I searched my hard drive for anything that includes "urban" in the directory or file. I found a shortcut called "Urban Renewal Kit." If you double click it should open. It opens the DosBox and then the SCURK.

I sent a copy of this shortcut to my desktop and put it next to the shortcut for SimCity, just to make things easier. The GOG installation does not do this.

If it doesn't open for you, maybe there is a problem with your DosBox setup?

For the Mac users: in the OS menu bar, go to File > Return to Launch Options. That will let you select either the original or SCURK.
Interesting thing: I can launch SCURK just fine, but when I try to look at buildings and models, there's nothing there. When I view cities, the buildings are blank. I can make new buildings, but I can't view and alter the existing ones. Does anyone have the same problem?
Reinstall the game.

This definitely helped! Thanks!

Also, for windows users, you might want to try the Window key if the alt button doesn't work for you.
The following is the DOSBox settings file for SCURK:

[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
mount C ..
@echo off
imgmount d "..\SC2000SE.DAT" -t iso -fs iso
c:
cls
SCURK.COM
exit
Hello,

I just purchase and downloaded Sim City 2000 Special Edition from GOG and the actual game seems to work fine, however I can't seem to figure out how to open the Urban Renewal Kit. I have Windows 10 on a brand new computer, is this part of the game (SCURK) compatible with Windows 10?

Seeing as it's all DOSbox based to begin with it, it should be.

You can either launch it from the shortcut in your start menu, or the method I personally prefer, the MORE menu in Galaxy.

Yes, I found it and successfully launched it, or that is my sister did who is far more excited about the upcoming XCOM 2 then this old game from the mid 90s. Fortunately she is not doing anything now, waiting for its release. I had searched the GOG Games folder without success but typing urban... into the search menu, and I then pined it to the start menu along with the game.

As far as I can tell everything is working as it should, I'm going to have to read the manuals since its been ages since I have played this game. I'm still learning Windows 10 so that likely also doesn't help! If this all works out I might try some of GOG's other games, like Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.

Thanks very much for the help!!! I'll go back to my nostalgia trip and relearn how to play this game! Thanks again!
