I have just bough simcity 3000 but I am unable to run it.
After clicking on the icon the game crashes back to the desktop.
Is there a solution?

"Clicking the icon"?

So not using GOG Galaxy, then?
I am launching it from the gog client.

I click "Play" , the green button, inside the client. But it return to desktop and nothing happen.

Have you tried running it through your desktop shortcut?
Yes I have tried it too. But nothing happens.
Try setting "Run as admin" in the game shortcut properties and launching it from that.
Nothing. Still nothing happens :-(
Try setting compatibility modes (XP for example) in the shortcut. If that doesn't work then send a ticket to our Support people, maybe they'll be able to help you out.
I have tried them all just now. Nothing. Thanks for the help anyway.
How to open a ticket?
Here's the link:

https://www.gog.com/support/contact

Choose "technical issues with games" and Support should take a look at your problem.
Thanks alot. Just done. I hope they can find a solution
Hey, Just got the game myself and i couldn't read the main menu,
The fix for me was turning off DSR factors which a lot of old games don't like.

I thought i had them disabled but my new video card or drivers must have re-enabled them.

I have win 7 64bit
I5, 16gb ram and a GTX960 4GB.
I have just found the problem.
My monitor has G-Sync and it was interfering with the game.

I have solved this way:
1. I have manually added the game to the list “Manage 3D Settings” -> “Program Settings” as it was not present.
2. Then I have set “Fixed refresh rate” at the “Monitor technology” entry.

Now it works.

Of course I have also updated the DX libraries as suggested by the Support team.

I'm having the same issue. Here is what I've tried:

EDIT: ***SOLVED*** Thanks CrimsonSkyDux I saw your post right after my original post

The issue was I needed to set the refresh rate to "Application Controlled" to override my global "Highest Available" settings in my Nvidia Control Panel Manage 3D Settings:

- Tried launcing wIth and without GOG Galaxy
- Installed DirectX (Legacy Versions included)
- Tried all compatibility modes
- Ran As "Adminstratator"
- Tried All available Color Depth Settings
- Disabled SLI
- Disabled Themes
- Forced Low Resolutions / Tried Modded Resolutions

I've ran out of ideas...

Out of interest, do you know what refresh rate the game uses? 30 Hz, 60 Hz?
