Hey there,

I got SC2000 running under Linux via native dosbox. I had to run INSTALL.EXE to set up the soundeffects and music. It works fine with Ad Lib for music, but I'd rather want to use timidity and have a nicer MIDI-sound. If I chose General MIDI as a device it doesn't work.

Playback of midi-files with timidity works fine. Dosbox configuration looks like this:

mpu401=intelligent
mididevice=alsa
midiconfig=128:0

pmidi -l says
Port Client name Port name
14:0 Midi Through Midi Through Port-0
128:0 TiMidity TiMidity port 0
128:1 TiMidity TiMidity port 1
128:2 TiMidity TiMidity port 2
128:3 TiMidity TiMidity port 3

Any ideas? Are there any special settings to make within SimCity?

I'll have to check my .conf file later, but I don't remember changing the mididevice line. You do need to change midiconfig, which you have done correctly, as DOSBox defaults to 65:0 otherwise. I'm actually using fluidsynth myself, but that shouldn't matter. Anything interesting on the DOSBox console screen?
