To whom are you talking? Maxis? EA? I don't think either of them have anyone reading here. Even if they did, they would not care.

Sim City 4 is available on gog.com ... in case you haven't noticed. I think Sim City 4 was and is the best of the series and the last Sim City which should have been called Sim City 5 is less interesting in every way. But that's just me.

Yeah, I hear you. Sim City 2000 and Sim City 4 are available here. Without DRM. All is well. The only thing missing is Sim City 3000. Sure hope GOG will bring that, too.
I don't think a Sim City 5 (as I call it) will even work without DRM ... so, I'm not holding my breath.
By the way: What makes you think that the game is gone just because Maxis is gone? EA is still here, I thought. They still hold the rights to Sim City. So ... ?

Great times and great memories, I'm sure. I envy you a bit. But let's be honest: nothing lasts forever. As long as we have Sim City 2000 and Sim City 4, I think we got the best of the breed.
Will Wright let Maxis be bought by EA, so he went into this desaster seeing eyed. Then he left EA in 2009 probably because he didn't like how EA ran things. Maxis without Will Wright wasn't Maxis anymore in my book. So, I guess it could be argued that Maxis was dead at least since 2009, probably since 1997.

I can see why you're pissed at EA. There are tons of reasons to be pissed at EA. But letting GOG know what you think about EA won't help. Let EA know what you think about EA. Won't make a difference, but at least you got the right receiver.

Maxis was also part of my life. Not from childhood, but very early when I got my first PC. I liked the Sim City games a lot up to and including Sim City 4. The things that came afterwards were terrible in my opinion. (That's just me.) I even bought the Sim City 3000 version for Linux in early 2000 I believe, which was adapted from the Windows version by Loki Games, another studio which sadly died and is long forgotten since.

It just not fair, to be honest im a hippocrit, I'd say i'd not buy any more EA games, but I did with Simcity 4 Here and TBH I got Mass Effect on the Origin Store because it was only 3 dollars

Also, I'd rather that SimCity 5 never make it to GOG. The most positive thing I've heard about it, is that it's fun for the first 5 or so hours. Basically reviewer bait where the game gives a nice initial impression but falls apart when you look just a tiny bit closer at it (which they hope that professional reviewers won't have time for).

Yes, life isn't fair. Welcome to the real world. ;) But you know ... first you're barking up the wrong tree, complain about bad business practises on the part of EA and then you're telling us that you're supporting those same business practises with your own money. Seriously? :D

Well, okay ... I'm certainly glad that I didn't stay in today, playing video games ... weather was good, so I went on a bicycle trek. No simulation needed.

Probably. :) That's what I'm telling myself, too. But it's not enough to focus on old games. I believe it is important to steer clear of Origin and Steam. I mean ... why do you think Mass Effect was only $3 on Origin? Was it because they didn't think they could have asked $6 for it? Maybe it was because EA got more than $3 out of that deal. Just a thought.

You were the one talking about preserving games for the future. Still you're buing from stores like Origin which has platform DRM. You should be aware that Origin can go away in the future. Then your game bought on Origin will not run anymore. That's old news. Same is true for Steam. That's one of the reasons why I don't buy from them. The more customers such a platform has the less attractive it is for developers and publishers to use GOG as a platform. So, what do you prefer? And please: don't complain about the ones you voted for. In this case with your money.

Don't worry I've made backups and I've got cracks which will crack the drm off origin games so they can. Be played offline

Okay ... be aware that those cracks are borderlining piracy. What if nobody has a crack? It's possible. I wouldn't rely on that. Also those cracks make it even less likely that the games will work on some future iteration of Windows or whatever is current then. Or rather: it is not really likely that those cracks will keep working on future Windows versions. But of course you know better, right? The question is: If it is all so very easy, why are you even here on GOG? The reason can't be that GOG offers DRM-free games. However that was a rhetorical question. I'm not really interested in an answer. ;) No offence.
