pls i have the following problem...i downladed the set up file for the game from GOG and it seems that i finally installed it properly,,,,my problem is that during installation it adds a new unkown user name profile into my C:/Users ...that contains all files like plugins and regions folders...and that seems ok , but the problem that appears is that every time that i want to install custom content i cant do so in that unkown user profile folder !... why? simple because the installation of the custom content doesnt regognize that unkown user name profile folder and propose me something similar , which the game itself doesnt regognize also......
in order to solve that problem in the past i used to make the installation of the custom content into another folder and then move it into that unkown user folder...and it seemed that worked! ....but now at the present i wanted to return into game and i decided to uninstall everything and make a new fresh installation of the game . but i have the same problem.....also notice that i want to add the new NAM 41 version , and i have to give the right path during its installation .......which means i cant install NAM ....if anyone can help pls i will appreciate it a lot!

That sounds odd. It is supposed to be in your own userprofile in Documents\SimCity 4\ or the games installation folder.
Wonder if you have odd characters in your username perhaps? Or rather, any character not in the standard A-Z En set.
So, you can create a folder somewhere on your drive, and then use the -UserDir:[path] parameter when starting SC4 to tell it where to look for said profile folder. Probably avoid using any non English character in the name of this folder.

You would have to do this every time you start the game. So, easiest way is to copy the shortcut you currently use to start the game or create a new shortcut, go to the shortcuts properties. Go to shortcut tab (should start there). In Target: box, go to end of line and AFTER the last " put -UserDir:X:\path\to\folder\you\created\above\, where X = the drive letter the folder you created is. Make sure to have the last \ at the end of the path as well.
