L3VO4KA1: Add silent hill 2 and 3 Konami
In my wet dreams, I do not lose faith that one day GOG and Konami will surprise me with SH 1, 2 and 3
I would instantly buy Silent Hill 1,2 and 3 if gog decides to release them. I would pay double if they are good ports with widescreen and controller support out of box like this release of Silent Hill 4.
I doubt that GOG will release SH1, it's a PS1 exclusive game, it was only available on psp/ps3/ps vita in digital format.

Why it would be released on PC, it was not even released on other platform before.

Silent Hill 2 is already on PC and you can add the enhanced edition pack to make it better for the videos, sound and music

Same goes for SH3, it's already on pc and you can get it for cheap (I paid 10$ for SH3 retail DVD)

For the same reason GOG sells other emulated games (Dos, Amiga, Neo Geo, NES) I guess.

The most recent example is Konami Collector's Series: Castlevania & Contra - those are NES emulations.

That package/compilation was already released on PC in 2002 in CD format and now GOG released it in digital, so it can run on newer systems and Windows.

SH1 was only on PS1, there was no PC release after and before 2020, what you ask is that GOG release it as an emulated ps1 game on the PC. If that's the case, get the ps1 game for cheap and you can run it with Retroarch with HD tweaks.

GOG is not gonna remake the game from scratch, it will still be an emulated ps1 version.

But how is that date relevant? Why do you consider it impossible that Konami will (soon?) package SH1 with an emulator, like they did with Castlevania/Contra in 2002? I'm not saying that it's going to happen, I just don't get your argument on why it can't happen.

Nobody here asked for ports or remakes. Just the game, sold by GOG, playable on Windows (and maybe Linux/Mac).

It's about Sony and Konami rights to give the SH1 game disc image to GOG so they can release it on their digital platform.

SH2, SH3 and SH4 was on PC too, so they can do a "digital version" of them (as long as they don't remove the extra scenario with Maria in SH2)

This is the same scenario with Until Dawn, the game is a PS4 exclusive, Sony owns the rights about the game and IP, that's why there is no pc release (and people asked about it because Man of Medan is on PC too now)

Why do you think that Sony's blessing is needed?

Coming back to the Castlevania/Contra thing... I'm pretty sure that there was no Nintendo involvement (in 2002).

Emulation is legal, when no original 3rd party assets are used [without permission] (like the original device's OS/firmware).

it came out on Xbox and PSP too, so the game is a multiplatform one. SH1 was only on PS1. Castlevania and Contra are multiplatform games too, the first Castlevania came out on Amiga, NES, Arcade, C64, DOS, that's why those games and Konami compilations are released on GOG.

I'm sorry but what does SoD to do with the SH1 release (or emulation at all)?

we were talking about multiplatform games vs console exclusive games that can or not be released on GOG.

Got it, but if I'm not replying/quoting any of you it means I'm referring to the topic theme which is SH 2 & 3 on GOG.

ok and what SoD has to do with this topic and sub-forum ? This is a Silent Hill 4 sub-forum, if you want to request a different game on GOG, ask it in the general/request forum.
