I just installed C3C on my 17" laptop. Upon launching, the game does not fill the whole screen, just the center part of it. How can I get it to fill the screen?

There is a setting or something in an .ini file that will cause the game to use the full screen. I tried it for a while, but I ultimately turned it off because I'd get periodic short, black flickers while playing, and it was too disruptive.

There is a thread somewhere in the subforum with details on how to do it. In a few minutes, I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: Found it!

Aww. :(

Did you get the correct ini file? Make sure you're opening one for Conquests, and not Civ3 vanilla or the first expansion.

I'm not 100% sure. It's definitely Conquests, because that's the file name. Maybe I just put it in the wrong place in the file?

If it is definitely conquests.ini, then I'm not sure what else to tell you. It worked for me, but I have a retail install on a Win7 machine.

Are you running Win10?

Yes, Win10.

Maybe that has something to do with it? I don't know. Sorry.
Make sure your graphics card does scaling on the GPU and not the output device. What card are you using?

Then don't speak. The OS makes no difference for this game.

Win10 is known for causing problems for games, which is why I brought it up. I acknowledged that helping with it is beyond my experience so he isn't left hanging, wondering if I'm returning with another suggestion.

Your first sentence to me was entirely unnecessary.
The correct file for me is 'C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Civilization III Complete\Conquests\conquests.ini' where I have the line

KeepRes=1

This works for me in Windows 10 with 1920x1080 resolution and ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics. The game changes the monitor to a smaller resolution to show the intro video, but it changes back to 1920x1080 for the title screen and the game map. The title screen doesn't fill the whole screen, but after I start or load a game, the map does fill the screen.

There should be only one "KeepRes=..." line; I don't know what happens if the .ini tries to set KeepRes more than once. My conquests.ini only has one section, "[Conquests]".

You can try the following if you have an Nvidia Graphics card

Edit the conquests.ini file:

Sid Meier's Civilization III Complete\Conquests\conquests.ini

[Conquests]

PlayIntro=0
KeepRes=0

Civ3Conquests.exe Properties

Run the program in compatibility mode for Windows 7
Disable full screen optimisations
Change high DPI settings:
Enable Program DPI
Use the DPI when I open this program
High DPI scaling override performed by application

In Nvidia control panel adjust desktop and position:
Scaling full screen
Override the scaling mode set by games and programs
