jtrevor99: All it does is fix the crash - nothing else - and the reason Thinker fixes the crash is because it includes Baggs’ patch. Thinker makes quite a few additional changes.
Have to mention here it is completely false information to claim Thinker Mod would include Baggs patch. The reason why Baggs' video mentions Thinker code is because the fix was already published back then. Thinker project released the Win11 patch first a couple of weeks before that. Anyone is welcome to take a look at Details.md and related notes to see how many issues are fixed in Thinker and the development is still continuing.
You are technically correct - and as any Futurama fan will tell you, that's the best kind of correct!

However, it doesn't matter that much to the layperson.

While it's technically true that the Thinker mod and the Nathan Baggs patch don't implement the same fix, and, per screenshots in Nathan's explanatory video, his fix was made available 1 to 5 days after Thinker's (somewhere between May 3 and 7 versus Thinker's May 2), they resolve the same error. Thinker's appears to work around the issue while Nathan's appears to address it directly - though I haven't had time to do more than scan the documentation and videos to confirm.

Yes, it would have been more accurate had I said "Thinker includes a fix that fixes the same error that Baggs' patch does", but I frankly didn't think anyone would care that much or find that an important enough distinction to argue about. Guess i was wrong. I was just trying to answer a question as simply as possible.

And yes, Thinker includes a whole host of other fixes...but it also includes a whole host of enhancements. I stand by my advice to install the Baggs patch if you want the Win11 SMAX fix and nothing else.

Well, it is somewhat necessary to respond to claims like these since the timeline does not match what was described in my previous post. If we need to be detailed then the exact release date for Thinker Mods Win11 patch is Apr 17 and it was announced here on reddit post. It should be discoverable using search engines and similar. This is why the previous post referred to "a couple of weeks". The patch was immediately available for preview build users and it did not need any further changes. There have not been any specific bug reports regarding this Win11 24H2 patch in Thinker Mod. It is a part of larger game changes but as previously said those are explained in Thinker's documentation.
Neither an announcement nor a preview release constitute a public release. Thinker’s own GitHub records that their fix was released to the public May 2. Responses to that release were in fact what got Nathan Baggs interested in the issue, and is why he started working on a fix May 2 or 3, not earlier.

Again, WHY DOES IT MATTER? No, it’s not “necessary to respond to claims like this”. Does anything in your last two posts help a single person looking for assistance in this thread, or help anyone enjoy the game? Does it change the veracity of the answer to the question I addressed, or any question posed anywhere in this thread? Was a single thing I posted actually incorrect in a meaningful or useful way? Why do you refuse to understand I am trying to keep answers short and simple for the people who neither care, nor want to pore through mountains of long posts, nor need the additional nuances that only you think are important? Why is your only focus here finding some pedantic detail to correct, especially when you have to read others’ posts excessively narrowly to even find something to attack? (Case in point: I didn’t specify “PUBLIC release,” because I thought that would be obvious.)

Please do everyone a favor and just drop it. I refuse to waste another minute on this. Thanks for making me regret trying to be altruistic and help others enjoy this game.

My response was directly related to the discussed topic and within any reasonable discussion guidelines. It was also needed to clarify discrepancies with other claims related to my previous comment. It would be preferable to avoid going into these specifics on this forum but it has to be done if the context needs it.
In this discussion, I hope I have not appeared to be disrespectful of you, or of the work you and others have put in on Thinker. I am a programmer myself and have modded / fixed a couple other games; I understand something of the difficulty, time and commitment an endeavor like this takes. Thinker is amazing, and the mod I would recommend in most circumstances.

That said, I don’t think this discussion is a good use of either of our times. My own experience is that most people simply do not care - about what came first, who to credit, or anything of that nature. They just want it to work. It was with that in mind that I wrote the initial answer.

I’ll be honest; I haven’t read your last reply yet. I haven’t the heart to do so as my conscience has been bothering me on even having this discussion. For what it’s worth, I’m a Christian and that should come before anything else. Not my ego, not my insistence on winning an argument and certainly not on something we’re all just trying to have fun with to take a break from reality. Regardless of who’s right here, I haven’t been acting with others’ best interests in mind, and I’m sorry.

I wish you the best but I am disengaging here. Take care.

I am autistic, I document it in my thread. I will try to review your credit tree.
Sure! Go right ahead. If you have any questions about the other modders I have credited, what work I did myself, where something came from or if I received the necessary permission, just let me know. Even though most players (in my experience) don’t seem to care, as a modder, I do adhere strictly to permissions/copyright/crediting rules.

Is there a way to fix the crashing without using Thinker mod? Or what part of Thinker mod fixes the problem?
The Nathan Baggs “Adamite” patch also fixes the issue. I could be wrong, but it appears Thinker fixes the issue by working around it, while the Baggs patch addresses the issue directly. To a casual player, (I think) they work equally well.

Adamite only addresses the issue - nothing else.

Ty for responding.
