I'm using Windows 7.

I am running terran.exe as an administrator and have tried compatibility mode for XP (with SP2 and SP3).

I have tried a few different INI setting in C:\GOG Games\Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.Ini.

I think the resolution settings in the INI are working but they don't get me past the splash screen where the game just sits with a spinning cursor...

I hope someone knows what my problem is because I have not been able to find any other discussion of this particular problem.

Make sure all older components of DirectX 9 are present on your system, before trying anything else.
Install Microsoft's DirectX end-user redistributable 2010:

Extract the diles to a separate folder and run dxsetup.exe for installation.
