Hello everyone!

I have a problem with running a small number of full screen games on my laptop. These include SMAX (which I bought just last night), FTL (Steam copy, but also only last night), and BG (works in a window). With all these games, my laptop will freeze with a black screen and be completely non-responsive, and I'll have to hard reset.

I have a HP Pavilion g6 Notebook, with AMD Radoen HD 7520 + 7670M Dual Graphics. Windows 7. It's only a few months old, and it's coloured white.

Anybody have any ideas what would cause this? Thanks for your time.

Yes, you must run as administrator and try compatibility mode.
Strange--it's automatically set to run in administrator mode, but not compatability mode, assuming that it should work normally. Well it ran successfully once, but a copy/pasted version of the directory with my modpack died. I'll have to work on it a bit more in a few days, but thanks for the starting tipoff.
I have the same problem on my desktop pc. It's quite bizarre as when i make an new install im able to start and play the game normally and after a while when i start the game again it freezes with the black screen and i have to manually reboot. After the first time it freezes i've realised that only way to get it to start without freezing is to make a new installation.

So far I've tried updating graphical drivers and toying with the compatibility settings with no success. Additionally i tried executing it in the windows safe mode and the game started normally but after that in normal mode it froze.

Any help on this?
For me personally, it ended up being my switchable graphics on my laptop. Disabling that made it work.
