So, I installed SMAC on my Sony VAIO, Windows 7, 64 bit; problem is, after the intro video, in the start menu and onwards 4/5 screen is obscured by a black square, not to mention a horribly miscolored desktop appears sometimes. After rebooting the miscoloration goes away, but there isn't a way for me to run SMAC as of now. Thinking of just refunding at this point.

Try running 'terranx.exe' as an admin in compatibility mode for windows 98 and also check the 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings' box.

If this still doesn't work, go to the file 'Alpha Centauri.Ini' and add the line:

DirectDraw=0

Go here (Widescreen support) for help.
