Okay, so I've tried my damndest to get the video mode=800, and 640 for thayt matter, to work ( and from what I can tell i have the line in the correct place) but cannot get it to change!!! It stinks because menus and all sorts of other things are cut off making the game unplayable pretty much.

I was wondering if there is a conflict with adding the direct draw=0 and disabling the opening movie. I've tried removing this but then the game won't even start. I'd really love to play this old wonderful game on my netbook.

The direct draw command overrides the video mode command. Delete the direct draw line and then the game should run at 800x600.
