Before I buy this game, I'd like to know whether the Mac version can play LAN multiplayer with the same Mac version on another Mac. Apparently, the Mac version of SMAC is the Windows version put inside a Wineskin wrapper. I want to know if this will create issues. I've had good results with Wineskin in the past, but so far multiplayer with SMAC has been a hassle as I've tried the windows version with hamachi.

Has anyone been able to make Mac OS multiplayer work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Other threads on multiplayer suggest that it you can play multiplayer games between players on Mac OS and Windows. While I can't test it myself, I don't see why you can't play multiplayer on two Mac OS computers. Just a fair word of warning, the Mac OS version is really the Windows version running in Wine.

I'm also interested in this. I've tried to set up games between two macs using the TCP/IP connection. Is that the right way to do it? I don't have any of the "DirectX" that the game says it needs for the other multiplayer options.
