Hello LinuxFire,

in the first hours of release Shing! was an Win,Mac,Linux Release. Then came an update that only Win, and then the next Update Only Win,Mac and after the last update i have looked into the Shoppage and GOG has changed the Systems to Win,Mac.

On Steam it is a non proton full Linuxrelease.

I have written the german support about this and i hope they write me back that he must repackage the linux-installer or it gives solveable problems and i must wait for the linuxversion.

With Wine and Proton yeah i can play most games that don't come out on Linux, but GOG delivers the most high quality Installer for Linux and i love to play that games on Linux.

I don't will pay Steam for an 3SystemRelease when i can get it here on GOG.

When GOG needs time for an quality installer release, then became gog this time, but when it gives other problems ...

I'm hopefully of the respond of my support-ticket.

Greetz
Hi Guys

There was a mistake at the beginning, with the Linux version.
We are working on it, and it will be available as soon as possible.

Thank you!

Thanks for the message Morel, this quick communication, is really nice.
If I understand, you are from the development team?
You can ask GOG, to get the status, you will have a nice orange color for your messages.

Thanks for the Linux version.
I greatly appreciate the efforts made, without needing to beg.
GOG does not communicate sales by OS, I know it from other developers.
But Linux sales on GOG are profitable, I’m sure your work will be rewarded.

Hello @All,

thx for the Information @Morel, i'm happy to know that the linux-version is on the run;).
Hopefully.
Well, after a lot work leading to nothing I am a little bit tired trying to improve the Linux situation on GOG.

I think if a share of the excessive marketing for Cyberpunk 2077 (and I don't think a comment of the technical
side is needed) would have been put into Linux support (e.g. improving webpages, getting new developers,
start official Ubuntu 20.04 Focal support - cough ...) it would be better concerning the Linux users.

I got the impression that while GOG did a lot to get Linux ports in former times this is no longer the case.

Currently I am collecting ... and do have much more points than would be reasonable to mention to GOG support:
more like an avalanche.
I got several times remarks from GOG about future work (e.g. getting working version of broken Linux port - still
advertised as being available for Linux - still broken - or putting my points to the Linux team etc. - without any reply).
Most developers are much more open than GOG is to a direct customer.
Trying to get some nice Linux games (accompanied by other supported platforms not that important ;)
I got feedback about a high hurdle to get on GOG to having been told by GOG that their game "is for
the non-GOG audience" - a game which I would also instantly buy. Reading this was like an explosion.
Nice to know that I am not part of the GOG audience ... maybe they should clarify that point somewhere ...
and maybe they know thereafter that they got a very wrong impression of "their audience", which had been
people wanting good games and play it for tens of years - not people wanting photorealistic games which may
work for a short time - after a long time of bug fixing - if supporting standards not available on release date.
Games without heart and soul - after my taste. Ok, I said such comments are not necessary ... but ...

Concerning this thread: I wrote a mail to developers about Shing! directly which would have been an instant buy for me ...
but did not get an answer - but this statement above rise hope a little - and maybe my mail was received.

But concerning GOG I have to come to the impression that I am not welcome as using Linux only and wish for
high quality games - and even try to help which is also not welcome (I am not interested in words, but corrected
websites, corrected start scripts, GOG contacting developers - which seems to be the gamers' part ...).
And I am no longer sure if it would be good thing to see developers here on GOG if they are treated similar to what
I have experienced till that day.

And this 4 digit login terror pseudo-security mechanisms is more than annoying ... with more than 15 minuted till a mail arrives
(in seldom cases - but it is enerving even if it comes after ~30 s).
So I don't think the current direction is positive for technical people.
I still hope for a change - as GOG should see that what they are doing may not be in the best interest of their customers.
But maybe this does not count at all ...

As said ... I am tired.

That is the unfortunate truth these days. GOG themselves don't seem to care much about Linux versions, if devs provide them it's good, if they don't it's also good, which is wrong.

If I worked at GOG and knew a product supports Win/Mac/Linux and the devs don't provide all of them on release, I'd most likely ask them for an explanation as I know my customer will ask and I'd need to have an answer instead of ignoring them.

As a customer I'm tired of having to chase devs for answers all the time. Not all of them are nice and responsive, some are on a high horse and won't even reply to emails.

Human want's convinienceproducts. A friend ask me, his laptop is burned and he needs a laptop only for work and a few small games. My offers come only with Linux, 2GB ddr2-ram a slow igpu but he can made all with linux and the opengl-version is hi enough for a few special games. He says he wait;).

But Linux is not a little Player for Gaming, only in our first world. A Gtx 3080 and Amd equivalents make at this time only sense with an windows 10 system. Take a system with Linux an good 1060/1080 or an amd equivalent is today complete fun and can run most games, with wine you have roundabout 80% of all windows games that run with good fps.

I think the problems are the gaming-engines like unity. Development games very easy but it cames with an mind-cave. THe most popular game-engines can crosscompile and very easy convert to linux. But the most developer are a generation that are only more artists (artists that have very good indie ideas, sure) but the programming is needed and windows development is need enough.

Yes crosscompiling or fixing the source for linux (when the programmer use internal libs from gaming engine it is not so hard to fix it for linux need) is not soo easy is know.

And the money at last.I'm german native speaker (no shit sherlock, smile) and know the problem very good in the translation section.

The same for Linuxversions of games. Today you buy all OS-Version, in the good old times you buy for every OS-System.

I write to much, i write to quirky english, smile.

Yes at the moment GOGs existence only hangs on win and (bad words) mac versions and we don't know how many Linuxguys it gives here on the platform. I think many but speakless.

And under us. The young generations wants no Linux, Freedom is for there not a reason.

I hope for Shing! comes a Linuxversion before Quantumsystemes comes to the Mainstreammarket, smile.

Therefore i found it good that a simple (whats with the linux version thread) become a little response, smile.

More Linuxuser more happiness,smile.

When Microsoft will made Windows 10 in the future as an SAAS-OS then we can hope this is PushUp that Linux needs and Wine fits.

Indeed. Thats not an GOG-Bashing Thread! The developers must deliver the Linuxversion, not GOG, we know. And the answer from the developers of Shing! was that a linux version are on the run. Cool. Then i hope a Linuxversion will come.

When a developers says a Linuxversion will come, the you don't must ask him every Year when the Linuxversion will come. (A german meme freely translated, smile)

This thread goes a little bit emotional, but its fully okay. Shing! is a good example. On Steam it comes with Win,Mac:,Linux on GOG we must wait and hope.

By the way. Some (yeah some is a hard word i know) Games are under Steam for LInux under GOG not and for some games no dev has give a feedback to that games. Here the devs has give a feedback. That makes me hopefull.

The answer is already well known. It is the same in almost all cases.

Hello!
Any plans to add coop by LAN / Direct Connection? It will allow both online coop and cross-store coop simultaneously.
