The pre-order for it is out on Steam currently. Do you think this will reach GOG's shores soon, or only upon release? What are anyone's thoughts on the game? Are you looking forward to it?
Yeah I am wanting to know as well if this will come to GOG unless steam has a 1 year window before GOG does... I tried contacting them but they never answer my messages.
Already pre-ordered on Steam but also buy from here if it comes :)
I sure hope it wouldn't take as long as a year to materialize on GOG! On the games, if this is to be the final installment, it sounds nice to have a combined GOTY pack of the entire Shadowrun series down the road.

It won´t, it´ll be on here @launch cause we were able to pledge for a GOG-Key (and I´ve already choosen one on Backerkit...) but of course it would be ways better to have it on here earlier!
In all likelyhood, it'll be here for preorder, likely with some minor preorder discount as is usual with preorders.
But not likely to be here half a year before it's done, few months at most. Expected at the end of year (I'm expecting it to slip to next year).

But that's just guessing.
I'm afraid the game might released this August with no (or 1-week limited) pre-order on GOG. Most probably Harebrained Schemes just want to accumulate as much money as possible before it get torrented. Oh I can't wait, but playing freshly released game is always a tight road through vast hordes of bugs.

Well I'll be...
Sooner and with a better discount than expected...
Does anyone here know if this will work with my Steam core game?

It's a standalone like dragonfall, so it doesn't require SRR or Dragonfall.
So yeah, it doesn't matter if you have the previous ones in steam, or at all.
Thanks to our wonderful forum user Staredown, we know that you can move files from Shadowrun Returns into the install folders of Dragonfall DC to be able to play the Dead Man's Switch campaign in the updated engine.

I am so curious if we will be able to do that with Hong Kong once it is released. Considering how much work has been put into upgrading the engine for this new game, it could potentially be too different for that to be possible, but how amazing would it be if it worked? Hopefully, Staredown or some other resourceful GOGlodyte will experiment with it.

What do you folks think? Could it be possible? Would you play through DMS and DF again in the HK engine?

Thank you I wasn't sure if it was stand alone or not. Do you know if there are aspects such as weapons, skills or classes that could be used in the core game? If so would this version then work with the other platforms? I guess that galaxy would solve that being cross platform and all.

As each game is stand-alone, there are no enhancements made available to other games in the series out of the box. There is a way to copy some of the files from Shadowrun Returns into the install folders for Dragonfall Director's Cut in order to play the original game in the improved engine of the second game. You can get more information on that HERE. Whether or not it will work between a Steam version of SRR and a GOG version of DF:DC, I am not sure. I don't think it would hurt to try it though.

GOG Galaxy allows you to play games online with Steam users. It does not allow you to access your Steam library, achievements, trading cards or other aspects of Steam. The two services are completely separate aside from the multiplayer cross-compatibility feature.
When Dragonfall first appeared as a DLC for SRR, some gameplay improvements (notably the save anywhere feature) also came as a patch to the original SRR, even for those not having Dragonfall.

There's a remote possibility some gameplay improvements/extra features could also be patched into SRR and Dragonfall, if the developer sees fit to make such patches. But that'd be quite a bit of work to generate (probably very limited) extra interest for the older games. Not holding my breath.

As to whether one can run the older modules in Hong Kong engine.. nobody knows. I'd put my money on "not", given how community module makers seem to run into issues and extra work porting their SRR modules into Dragonfall.
Only 18 days waiting left...
