The game downloads and installs just fine, and it starts up without a problem, letting me make changes to any of the settings. The problem occurs immediately after starting a new game: you get the computer printout-style text giving you the story background, and a progress bar starts scrolling across the bottom as the game attempts to load the first level -- then BOOM! the game crashes out to Windows, giving me an error message that the program has stopped working. I've tried about a dozen different ways to configure the game settings, and none of them let me actually play the game.

I'm running Win7 64-bit with an i7 quad-core 2.4 GHz, 8 GB RAM, and an nVidia GeForce GT 650M 2 GB. This same machine let me play the original "Shadowgrounds" without an issue. I've updated my video driver and running as Administrator has no effect.

Is anyone else having this issue, or know how to resolve it? Thanks...

Please write to our Support department via the Support link for the game. Please make sure you include your DxDiag file when sending out the email. Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience :(

A bit late but, it is important to know for those who come after us here for solutions.

I can confirm that I had this same issue, and as was suggested here in another thread, there is an Nvidia PhysX Legacy System Software download available that resolved this issue immediately for me.

Here is the link:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.12.1031-legacy-driver.html

If this link I provided should become broken sometime in the future, just do a search (in your language, too) for Nvidia PhysX Legacy System Software, to find a new (or old) working link.

Thanks Nvidia for making this available!

edit...

I should add, that this was only needed for Shadowgrounds Survivor, the original Shadowgrounds worked fine without it.

And, perhaps there might be other games that might need this as well, that people could not run because it was pre-2007?

Team-GoG, you might want to look into this to possibly help resolve issues with other games and at the very least, contact Nvidia to see if they will let you incorporate this PhysX driver into the Shadowgrounds Survivor install.

Great stuff GhostwriterDoF, the link worked for me and solved the problem i was having not being able to play the game. Thank you
Also having this issue on Windows Vista 64-bit.... the fix provided in this thread worked, but I do hope GOG manages to fix this within the game so this fix won't be needed.
Had the same issue but Ghosts tipp solved the problem, many thanks!
Same issue on install. The driver update above fixed the issue.
