Here is a modified version of jonathan fowlers shadow warrior opengl port also with links to the playwang frontend.

basically, by taking the .GRP files from your registered game, (expansions too) you can play shadow warrior in an enhanced opengl engine, same principle as eduke32, erampage et al.

EDIT: just to let you know, the site also contains links to get hold of the expansions Twindragon and Wanton destruction. just so we're clear I AM NOT ENDORSING THESE, these have always been on here as they were (previously) quite hard to get hold of. i have been using this engine for my disk version of SW for some time.

of course, just to make it clear, im not forcing anyone to use this, by all means dont, if thats what you want, but please dont waste your breath coming onto the thread saying the the engine is sh@t or you dont want to use it or whatever. not necessary. not really interested.

Yeah this make Shadow Warrior even more fun to play and runs better. :)
It is nice. Just a shame that it messes up the sound on 64 bit. Never been able to find a way around that...
to be honest, as far as im aware, the proASM version of JFSW (this one linked) has a vista/win 7 sound fix included.

ive never had any dramas with it, or the famous palette error either.
Is there a way to disable the character automatically looking up or down when you are on stairs or a ramp?

It's really annoying with mouselook on.
where can i find the hrp package and more importantly do i have to unzip it or just put the zip file in the directory?

EDIT: found it, you have to unzip it but then leave another unzip file unzipped...

That hrp package has some ugly monster models and it's with those models or without any HD models at all. So i'll play oldschool.

Are there any other advantages using this source port because dosbox seems to work fine.

hrp is a link on this page, it just takes a bit of looking and youll find it

you unzip the file you download, and the hrp.zip in there, just place in swp directory

to be honest, all instructions you need are on that site of proASM's

edit: advantages, higher res using the playwang launcher, better graphics overall. if youve played eduke/ erampage or any of the other types of source ports for build engine, its very similar. i believe its a full 3d engine for scenery, some models etc

however, you prefer dosbox..? fill your boots, i was merely providing a direction to the port source, as i personally, like the newer look and full 3d engine.

Okay thank you for the info, i've been playing around with both of them, trying to figure out which one i like best (dos or port) Both seem to have advantages (i like the pixelated original graphics, but the extra resolutions and better control is very nice too).

So thanks again for the info i'll have to play around a bit more to make my personal decision ;)
no probs, i must be honest, i dont really like the 3d models myself, but i can just about put up with them, a small minus for alot of pluses.

i guess its nice to have both, depending on your mood etc. miniscule hdd space taken up really so why not.

im not sure i fully understand your question, but ill try and help.

i assume youre using playwang to launch too? as that has an option for what music you want to play, which i believe the engine gets from the music subfolder in the swp directory., which, and im just guessing here, i assume if you put those files in that folder, you can play them....... maybe, its all a bit of conjecture on my part there to be honest.

however, if this doesnt answer your question, i apologise

Well, kind of does. What i meant is that the GOG version plays .OGG versions of the game's soundtrack taken from the CD version of the game while SWP plays MIDI versions of the songs. Was wondering if there is a way of importing the CD versions of the game's tracks into SWP. Assumingly if i just drag them into that folder it won't know which track to play for which level.
